Still can’t stop anybody with those advantages. But but but but he is a boxing superstar, let’s pay $80 watch a guy Outland his opponent 10 punches to 3 and call it masterful.
Devin Haney rehydrated to 165 lbs

Wow…so if he fought at the weights Mayweather fought in, in relation to his weight, he’d be campaigning at 160lbs. Mayweather fought at 148-152lbs when he was at 147. And fought at around 135lbs when he campaigned at 130lbs. Everyone should stop the comparisons.
Also, this makes Haney the same size as Crawford and Spence.Comment

There seriously needs to be some rule changes implemented to address this type of extreme weight cutting because it really has become a joke. How can you explain to someone that the lightweight and super lightweight champion of the world enters the ring as a super middleweight? It's absurd. The whole purpose of weight classes in the first place is to ensure a fair fight between two evenly sized competitors, so something clearly needs to be changed.
Imo they should either (drastically) shorten the rehydration window, implement hydration-level testing like ONE Championship, or simply place a blanket cap on how much weight you can gain overnight like the IBF 10-pound rule. Preferably a combination of all three.

Great post. Thanks for the breakdown.Just as I have been stating. Devin Haney is a weight bully. He goes to his hotel room, gets on a drip line and pumps himself up with 25 extra pounds of body weight. He's been doing this his whole career, which is why he always tries to have ceremonial weigh ins rather than legit weigh ins.
Just compare to Regis. As I HAVE BEEN SAYING, when you rehydrate about 7 to 12 pounds (12 pounds max), you are rehydrating naturally. Within a 30 hour period, you should not be putting on more than 12 pounds. Regis rehydrated 10 pounds in 30 plus hours. That's normal. That's how you're supposed to do it.
Haney rehydrated 15 pounds more than Regis, and he's supposed to be the guy moving up.
We need to put a stop to this bull****.
This is why I think Loma kicking the crap out of Devin, who likely weighed 165 in the ring, is arguably one of his best performances.Comment

But he had the disadvantage of having to cut and rehydrate which for alot of fighters is depleting, Prograis didn't do that. If fighters can do it with no ill effects its their natural advantage like being a hard puncher. Haney is young doe...so kinda like after a hard night of drinking cutting and blowing back up will have less of an effect naturally than it typically would an older fighter. There seriously needs to be some rule changes implemented to address this type of extreme weight cutting because it really has become a joke. Some of the MMA guys have cut near 30 pounds. 25 pounds though is either the record or close to it for boxing from what is known. HBO used to always do their fight night scale and 20 pounds was a big cut, 24 pounds is the biggest one that I remember.
This also backs up my hunch that Haney literally weighed 20 pounds more than loma on fight night and for him to struggle that much with that level of advantage shows how overrated he is.Comment

165 fight night means haney is well in the 170s or even 180 between camps.Comment
