Ain’t no one reading all that. Ward took risks to be great.. Golovkin sat in the same weight class all of his career and look where that got him. Dude even vacated to duck an ancient Erislandy Lara. Turned down a PBC deal to fight Jermall. Throughout his career Gennady has constantly taken the easy route. Those Canelo paydays destroyed any legacy he was gunning for, got greedy and took his eyes off the prize. Even turned down an undisputed fight for Canelo. Jeez.

As for Ward vs Canelo, this fight could've been made since Canelo fought for the first time at 168 in 2018 against Fielding. At that time Ward was around 33-34 y/o and his last fight was against Kovalev in 2017, so I think Ward could've fought Canelo if he really wanted and get a good payday. Ward probably is a little salty bc he was missing the Canelo PAYDAY.
I doubt it, ward turned down a froch rematch in UK for some nice money. He strikes me more of a ‘legacy’ guy. He was retired in 2018 due to his long-standing injury, so I don’t think the Canelo fight would’ve happened.

But if Canelo is looking to fight past-prime guys then surely Ward would've been his ideal choice?

"Canelo only fights past-prime half-retired guys, so no way he'd fight a past-prime half-retired guy like me"

When Ward retired, his mandatories were Bivol and Beterbiev. A lot of people said he was ducking. It seems funny for him to say "those guys have never said my name in 6 years, there's a reason for that". But what is the reason, that they didn't want the fight? If Ward had stayed active, they would've been his next 2 opponents unless he vacated, so how can he paint the picture that they are the ones that didn't want it?
The difference is, Ward was ‘past prime’ and still P4P #1… so still would’ve been a risk Canelo would’ve swerved

Then finally stepped up again with a razor close win against kovalev that many thought he lost. Then in the rematch he throws a 5 punch combination to the balls that was far worse than the single shot that Usyk took from Dubois, except Ward had the ref on his side in this one.

After that lucky "stoppage win" he got in the rematch he retired rather than take on any challenges.

Now he is 39 and crying that a former super welterweight wouldnt theoretically fight him if he was still fighting. Dude who gives a ***, you are 39, the same age as Beterbiev, if you are so ***ing great then call out Beterbiev who is the same weight and age as you. But we see him crying about middleweights that wouldnt fight him.
This just sounds like tears. He retired #1 RING ****zine P4P and was Pound For Pound on every universal list when he retired. That doesn’t sound like ‘never living up to the hype’ after the Super 6? Warped reality?

Bivol & Beterbiev were prospects with less than 10 fights & zero experience or fights against former champions or contenders when Ward retired. Make it believable at least lol

However, when it came to Andre he conveniently moved the goal post. Take the time to research it. It’s posted on this site.
Speaks volumes, because 10 years later he still hasn’t fought anyone outside of 160. Only for a Canelo payday at 40 years old.

When on threads ward comes up, I think of Joe Calzaghe, ward then becomes irrelevant.

Canelo and Andre Ward didn't overlap. Andre Ward fought at 175 and retired in 2017. Canelo fought at 175 in 2019.

And that's the point. Andre Ward campaigning for the fight meant fighting on for a few more years.

If Andre had fought on for 2-3 more years, the fight could have happened in 2020 at 175.

A prime Ward would have easily defeated Canelo
