If GGG wouldn’t fight Ward and if Canelo won’t fight Benavidez. Then what makes one so confident that Alvarez will ever fight Dre?
Oh GGG was more than willing to get his hands on this guy but never got the call

Ward has always been a well traveled Canelo hater.

still running with this lie that ward literally made up. its in court documents that ward didnt want the ggg fight. his own promoter said so under oath, along with not wanting to fight other guys hbo wanted like bute. why not look into that instead of simply repeating what ward says? so silly to believe PR propaganda. why do you think hbo kicked ward off...its right there in the court filings. opponent selection. and if you are talkign about the later roc nation offer they got busted on that one as well trying to fight ggg in a year when ggg was waiting to fight the cotto/canelo winner next since he was mandatory which means he was on a fight by fight basis yet roc nation wanted to lock him up for 2 fights(they admitted this)...something they knew he couldnt and wouldnt do. and to seal the deal roc nation even said "we thought ggg was available in 2015. we didnt know about the lemiuex fight." but then they didnt offer to fight him when he was available! they wanted to fight him in 2016? please. if you think a guy is available and you want to fight him, you offer to fight him when hes available. everyone in boxing knew the wbc situation. a cheap pr stunt because ward was salty ggg ruined his reputation and helped kick him off hbo earlier in his career. and as a kicker ward in 2015 said he cant make 168 anymore since his last fight at 168 was in 2013. not realistic to pretend like hes going down there for ggg. possible but not very probable.

Ward was a brilliant skilled fighter and he beat some top, top 168 pounders including Dawson here and arguably beat the top "killer" at 175 in Kovalev. I'd have liked to see Ward fighting a prime Andre Dirrell in S6 bc I think Dirrell beat Froch at that time.

As for Ward vs Canelo, this fight could've been made since Canelo fought for the first time at 168 in 2018 against Fielding. At that time Ward was around 33-34 y/o and his last fight was against Kovalev in 2017, so I think Ward could've fought Canelo if he really wanted and get a good payday. Ward probably is a little salty bc he was missing the Canelo PAYDAY.

kovalev still clearly won the first fight. that was horrific. even in the second half ward never really got into the fight. rounds 9, 10, 11 i scored for kovalev and 7-8 were barely ward rounds where he did very little. if kovalev did fade it wasnt much and what happened is ward just upped his wrestling and cheating tactics with very little effective work.

Ward is saying that Canelo only wants to fights big names who are past-prime, on their way out of the sport. Then Ward says that he retired because his body was no longer able to perform at the highest level. Then he says Canelo wouldn't have faced him if he was still active. But if Canelo is looking to fight past-prime guys then surely Ward would've been his ideal choice?

"Canelo only fights past-prime half-retired guys, so no way he'd fight a past-prime half-retired guy like me"

When Ward retired, his mandatories were Bivol and Beterbiev. A lot of people said he was ducking. It seems funny for him to say "those guys have never said my name in 6 years, there's a reason for that". But what is the reason, that they didn't want the fight? If Ward had stayed active, they would've been his next 2 opponents unless he vacated, so how can he paint the picture that they are the ones that didn't want it?

Ward never lived up to the hype after winning super 6. He weight drained Dawson down to 168 then after that spent 4 years wasting his prime fighting C level bums.

Then finally stepped up again with a razor close win against kovalev that many thought he lost. Then in the rematch he throws a 5 punch combination to the balls that was far worse than the single shot that Usyk took from Dubois, except Ward had the ref on his side in this one.

After that lucky "stoppage win" he got in the rematch he retired rather than take on any challenges.

Now he is 39 and crying that a former super welterweight wouldnt theoretically fight him if he was still fighting. Dude who gives a ***, you are 39, the same age as Beterbiev, if you are so ***ing great then call out Beterbiev who is the same weight and age as you. But we see him crying about middleweights that wouldnt fight him.

Sounds like Ward is angling ( some would say begging) for a comeback payday.

Would allow Canelo to continue to avoid Benavidez by taking a high profile, winnable fight.

Hopefully, Canelo ignores Ward and focuses on making the better fight.
