canelo has operated like this his whole career, going up and down weights depending on which vulnerable champs are about, who looked bad in their last fight etc most sensible think benavidez could do is put in some lackluster performance in his next fight and then he might get a shot at 'the king' as canelo is walking around calling himself now

Awesome. That doesn’t mean he was destroyed or that everyone else in his more natural weight class can pull it off.
He completely shut him down and made him look like a C fighter. Bivol was holding back. Canelo only loading up on shots, missing all, bad stamina, no combinations, no movement. Totally clueless for 12 rounds. Exposed.

Right back at you. Who's the top dog, the champ or the top ranked contender? You are being deliberately obtuse, or you just don't get it. Either way there's no point talking to you. Benavidez has never been the top ranked guy in any division. Callum Smith was the top guy in every ranking by every organization until Canelo beat him, and now Canelo is. Benavidez was always lower down on the list. He may be top someday, but that day has not come yet. Or are you just incapable of seeing the champ's name at the top of the list if it's spelled "Canelo" because you're a pathetic hater?

Whatever. The fact remains that Benevides has earned his shot. If Canelo doesn’t fight him next, it’s a straight up duck.

Certainly agree on that. The only other guys I'd accept are Morrell, who has been mandatory for the longest (over 2 years), if the WBA ever decides to order it, or the IBF mandatory if they decide to order that fight, or maybe Bivol at 168. Otherwise, yes, Benavidez is really the only relevant fight @168. If he fights Munguía or Crawford or Charlo next, I'm right on the duck train. I appreciate that Benavidez has been fighting the top guys while he waits. Benavidez fight must happen next year IMO, and ought to be in May, unless Canelo clears Morrell out first.

Benavidez = Kirkland Munguia (if Canelo fights him) and Angulo
Benavidez not = Lara Bivol and FMW

Prove me wrong. He comes forward squared up which is exactly what Canelo needs you to do.

I think Canelo beats Benevides too but doesn’t change the fact that Benevides has earned the fight.

I don't think Canelo beats Benavidez. And making statements like, "I'm the king, I can do whatever I want", instead of, "Sure, I'll fight him, beat him and shut everyone up", makes me wonder if Canelo thinks he can beat Benavidez.

Ginger saying he can do what he wants reminds me of the days (long gone) when the sanctioned bodies would dictate Championship fights, not ****** greed ...
