He’s had 1 fight at 140 and you want him to move up?

140 has Lopez (p4p top ten), Garcia and Mattias as well as other strong fighters.

Why should he move up to fight an old shot Thurman and then Boots?

He was already quoted as entertaining a move to 147 before this fight: https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...-vacate-titles

Depends on the fighter, weight jumpers tend to not stay long at weight classes.

Mayweather had a few fights at 140, Pacquaio just one at 140.

If the weight cut isn’t easy then it would make sense to go to 147 but if not, there’s good fights at 140 as you say.

It really just depends on the fighter.

Haney before he moves up to 147 pounds, should really attempt to maximized his career at 140 pounds I.E Make all the big fights there that he can, such as? The Teofimo Lopez fights.

Note: People also need to not get carried away in the moment, Haney is able to move up through the weights due to being a big weight drainer at the lower weight classes 'This is not like Oleksandr Usyk or David Haye moving up to Heavyweight'.

Haney is most likely a bigger weight drainer than Mayweather Junior and Pacquiao during their careers etc.

So he should skip huge fights against Ryan and Teo to go fight a semi retired guy in Thurman huh?

I'd prefer Haney vs. Teo or Matias instead, but someone has to get rid of Thurman. I think Thurman would face Haney because he won't perceive him as a big threat. Guys like Stanionis and Ennis could very well stop Thurman.

Why has Thurman taken another two years off?

Yeah I don’t understand the logic. 140 is a good division and there are at least 3 fights I love to see him in.

He’s only just turned 25. I don’t understand the rush. Makes me think people want to see him get beat.

Because a fight against Thurman may be easy money, and it'll give Haney leverage in two divisions simultaneously. I may not prefer the match-up, but I understand the strategy behind it. Garcia and Teofimo cannot be counted on, those two are unstable.
