He doesn't have the footspeed or utilise angles like Diaz and Loma or have the handspeed and punch variety. In short he is absolutely no way near as skilled.
They had success in different ways but ultimately because they was unpredictable and would throw combinations, doubling, tripling up. They'd miss 2-3 shots but get in with the fourth. Regis is just basic. Needs you to stand in front of him and just throws right, left, right left, no changing the trajectory or mixing it up.
I never predict a Haney stoppage win he is a decision fighter, Haney points safest bet in boxing.
But for this one I think the move up will serve him real well and he'll hit much harder and should be a lot fresher late on along with his speed which Regis isn't used too seeing. It maybe silly in hindsight but going in I think he can make a statement and potentially stop Regis.
Slow feet, his defense is head movement with a low guard and he makes a lot of mistakes reaching and telegraphing shots. His offense is very predictable.

Some things about this fight make it interesting. Does Devin have his man strength yet? If so, he will be stronger and the weight jump will not be a problem at all. What are the merits of each respective division? 140 is a place where you first start to see really big punchers more typically. First of all, the weight itself, guys who can crack at lower weights can come up, and guys who have legit middle weight aspirations can fight down.
I think Regis having a normal outing last time soured a lot of people. I also think Loma, whether he "won" a decision, by boxing scoring, or not, had Devin frustrated and even beat towards the end of the fight. I do think Haney is the A side and that the judges will be looking to give it to him if the fight goes the distance.
Regis is not an overly technical fighter. If he goes into this fight ready to test Haney's chin, and can deal with Haney's jab, and possible jump in power, he could show that Haney is vulnerable to a real deal, 140 pound ****er. The more I think about it, the more it appears this will not happen. Two reasons: Fighters today want to save face and not risk it all. Regis is not getting a decision, and probably is not prepared to take the risks he needs to, to make sure he drops Devin. The other reason is, Haney has a good enough jab to keep guys off. I want Regis to win my heart sings for a legit Nah Orleans, home grown (Creole) to lift the city like Ward lifted Oakland. I also think Devin has gotten all the breaks...
But realistically, if Devin can avoid being KO'ed he will get the decision. Therefore unless Regis can overcome this he will not get past Haney. I hope I am wrong and that Regis shows what a legit 140 power hitter can do when focused...
