Ironically the point you are making about a woman's skull being a bit thicker....all thickheaded jokes aside....make it even worse for a female boxer. A man has thicker bones in the jaw. Along with far more naturally dense muscle fibers. Meaning that a man can take more punishment, with less of the shock absorbed by the brain, as the force is absorbed by the jaw muscle and bone far more.
Women have far less muscled jaws with smaller bones. So when they get hit by less power, it translates to the skull with alot more force. Meaning the brain is bouncing around. In boxing, most shots are taken to the jaw and face, not the skull. So thanks for correcting me, it is worse than I thought. The brain damage occurs from multiple shots to the jaw, chins, nose, etc. So the skull thickness is basically irrelevant, as the brain bouncing around in the skull from the impact is the cause of brain damage.
That study is interesting. Women are thicker headed. I'm sending that to my wife.
