When will Wlad stop being a contender?

If Wlad is knocked out again in his next fight vs Sergei Liakhovich or loses a decision, are his days as a title contender over. At what point does everybody think he will never get another title shot.

    Reggie Strickland

A matter of pure aesthetics I suppose. People say Holyfield should retire....I say Strickland should.
I like Wlad, and he should be allowed to fight regardless; in the spirit of being fair to those who actually deserve it.

I realize he is not in title contention, but according to his statements on "Real Sports", he seems to think he is.
Perception is reality, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
I do not appreciate 272 losses however. That is too much, and consitutes placing himself in grave danger.

Wlad is a big strong young guy. He is fine.

Yea Wlad is no longer a contender, replace him with Danny Williams instead.

when will he start being a contender is the more appropriate question.

          answer...never

I've never been on the Klitschko bandwagon. I've always seen through both of them. Vitali has his coming soon enough too.

So I guess we should just chalk off everyone that he has beaten then as well which includes three current top ten heavyweights including one current champion, two former world champions, and one olympic silver medalist.

Can we throw away Gerry Cooney's defeat of Ken Norton, ya I think we can.

Can we throw away Wlad's wins, ya probably. That being said I think that his only real problem is his trainer. He needs to be with his old guy or Freddy Roach...was freddy his old trainer, I don't know.

Point is this game is more in the boxers heads then it is in their hands. Just look at George Foreman after Ali, he was at his physical peak and he ******. Then twenty years later he is great. It was better mental not physical conditioning that he needed.

Wlad is weak right now, he doesn't believe really in himself. He fights scared. He knows that he can lose now, and that knowlege hurt him. He needs to let it give him caution instead of fear and he could easily be the best heavyweight in the world.

Wlad's old trainer was Sdunek, who is Vitali's current trainer, but along with Sdunek he worked with trainers such as Freddie Roach for the Danell Nicholson fight and Tommy Brooks for the Ray Mercer fight.

Ya Sdunek and Freddie are the right combo I think and a good psychologist, and probably some strippers. Strippers get the confindence up.

Here is what I don't understand. His brother is the top ****ing heavy, why don't these guys spar each other non stop. Vitali would let Wlad know real soon if he didn't have a chin, and together their skills could really improve.

I agree. I use that Nicholson fight to show that Wlad really wasn't a different fighter until he started working with Steward. And as for sparing, they used to in the past, but stopped because it would get too competitive or something along those lines. They need to start sparing again. What does Wlad get out of sparing with feather fisted Larry Donald? Not much.
