No, they are playing the longer game. Joshua will fight Hrgovic for the IBF. Winning it makes a fight with Fury as big as it can be and gives team Joshua more leverage in the split, negotiations and control of the promotion. The rematch clause means fighting Fury isn't going to happen until 2025 anyway and Joshua has accepted that. They can fight Wilder anytime and will continue to suggest it as the next fight as it gets easy attention but to fight him next would be dumb in the extreme.

Wallin might very well upset Joshua. And Parker took a lot of punishment against Joyce, I think his chin will be susceptible to cracking now. Especially against a puncher like Wilder.

Wilder said he wasn’t coming back until January when he saw team Joshua mentioned the December 23rd as a possibility of fighting weeks ago which means he’s not looking for that fight without any tune up or other fight beforehand.
