Not entirely sure what all the speculation is about. It’s common knowledge that Canelo signed a 3 fight deal with PBC. That deal is with PBC not showtime so as soon as PBC get a new broadcasting deal Canelo will have to honour those 2 remaining fights.

Realistically Al isn’t going to want Canelo to beat his 3 fighters and ride off into the sunset holding onto his 4 belts. Al will want those belts under the PBC banner.

I’d bet good money Benavidez was always and is still always going to be the last of those 3 fights. Al is going to put the fighter with the best chance of beating Canelo in that third spot after he’s taken a bit more out of him with the first two. Of course Canelo will have to agree on that third choice, but feeding Andrade, a fighter Canelo has been accused of ducking, to Benavidez now just makes it all the more difficult for Canelo to avoid him. That’s intentional.

I’m sure Benavidez and his team know this and are just playing along with the ‘will he won’t he’ crap purely to keep the press guessing and build interest. It’s all about money and belts so can’t realistically see if happening in any other way. The biggest banana skin is Andrade, but he’s been showing signs of decline - Liam Williams wobbled him a few times and Benavidez will get to him quicker, apply more pressure and hit way harder than Williams.

And the narrative about Benavidez ducking Morrell is entirely false. He first mentioned fighting Morrell literally days before Canelo’s 3 fight deal was announced and has been quiet on it since, clearly as he’s been waiting on the Canelo fight. That’s not ducking that’s business. Canelo fights are retirement money and it’s called prizefighting for a reason. Benavidez spent years being ducked by Plant, Saunders, Smith, Canelo and never lost his belt in the ring. Why on earth would he be remotely concerned about facing Morrell who’s he’s openly acknowledged as one of the best fighters in the division on more than one interview?

Canelo is ******. He should’ve fought Benavidez right at the beginning just like Mayweather did to him when he was green. He’s now aging out and Benavidez has just got better in the meantime.

Well, it seems like pbc are lining the other charlo up for a May retirement fight so IF benevidez beats andrade and IF he goes on to fight and beat morrell then there is noone of much credibility at 168 for Canelo to fight other than benevidez.

Morrell needs to get rid of that trainer of his.

Look what he did to Jermall Charlo. Every time Charlo asks him, "Do you think I'm ready for this guy?" Shields: < crickets >

Yes, boxing sure has taken a turn for the worse. Especially when fans get behind a fighter who blatantly ducks top competition, while in pursuit of belts in multiple divisions against weak opposition.

All the talk from Morrell's camp was about not rushing him, I don't see what changed. With only 9 fights, Ronnie will stop him from getting hurt. Especially if Benny looks fearsome. Morrell's issue is his lack of pro experience at such an advanced age. Benny has 3 times the fights vs much better quality.

Yeah facts. But I really don't want TC to jump weight classes. I rather him take a fight at 154 first

If David Benavidez would have had the discipline to hold onto his old SMW title, Canelo would have taken it from him two years ago. He didn't and that's why he got pushed back in line. Benavidez, like most of the other MW and SMW elite, decided to stand around and complain about being ducked instead of fighting other contenders to earn their crack at Canelo. He gets credit for finally taking on a legitimate contender in Plant and now again in fighting Andrade, but he was doing nothing but talking before that. Canelo's next fight will absolutely be against the winner of Benavidez/Andrade. If it's not, then fans can legitimately say that Canelo is ducking. Up until now the ducking narrative has been nothing but fabricated bull****.

You're wrong, check benavidez first 11 "fights", and then his following 15 or 16 fights. Since you think Morrell Jr doesn't have the experience, you'll be surprised by those fights. Shields stopped the fight before, because he didn't have enough time with the kid, two fights later he gave tha okay, for you is an advance age 25yo, but you forgot that he was an standout amateur with 130-2 record and a junior World Champion and won the best boxer in a couple of tournaments. Beside, he is the #1 and WBA belt holder, just like benavidez. I think benavidez people are more worried of what Morrell Jr can do to their charge, than Morrell Jr people.
