Cordina just said out of his own mouth that the Foster fight wouldn't pay him enough, you STOOGE. I keep forgetting that you can't read. So a retread from 126 will sell more where, in the land of fish & chips and cheap ale? In America, fans are dying to see Shock Foster put someone else to sleep.

I'm torn on this one. When a fighter comes to a promoter and asks for an opponent, the promoter should say, "I'll try and make it happen." Whether the money is right is ultimately the network and promoter's issue to solve. Hearn already poisoned the well by telling Cordina that the Foster fight isn't worth anything, even if there's truth to it. Now, maybe the match-up has increased in value because Foster had a spectacular finish against Hernandez. But, the match-up won't be worth more than Cordina/Wood, and that's why boxing is a business first and not a sport. Fighters are not consistently incentivized to make unifications and fight the best competition every time. There are fighters who earn 7-figures while cherry-picking.
However, what people need to remember is that Hearn has 0 responsibility to Foster. Matchroom won the purse bid for Foster/Hernandez because Rocky is their fighter...and there's no guarantee that Matchroom will sign Foster to a deal. Foster should stay a free agent and see if he can get any of the other titlists in the ring.
If Matchroom does decide to sign Foster, then that puts pressure to make the unification or keep him active. They would need to make a concerted effort to build Foster's resume/profile.Last edited by kiaba360; 11-05-2023, 06:59 AM.Comment

Sid-Knee How do you defend this cowardice, mate? Your boy Joe wants no American smoke because he knows Shock Foster would turn out his lights. Cordina would rather fight a UK retread moving up from 126. Typical.
.
Sid-Knee is a matchroom shill, not worth talking to.
He doesn't post unless it's defending Hearn or his fighters or broadcaster. Its weird.Comment

I used to think Cordina would beat Leigh Wood, but I'm not sure after his last 2 fights
He's very easy to hit, stands way too tall in the pocket and backs himself onto the ropes in straight lines, literally the worst things you can do against someone like Wood who can put lights out with one shot and often finds that shot.
it's a good fight, I understand why Cordina wants it because its a pretty good money fight. But if he fights like he did last night, Leigh Wood will spark him out.
I used to favour Cordina, but now I think its a 50/50. Cordina has to get Wood before Wood gets him because Wood will definitely get him sooner or later. Cordina makes way too many defensive mistakes that plays into the hands of Wood who can pick a good shot and do damage.

Agree with deathofaclown. Also, I don't much like Cordina's feet. He doesn't bounce around on the balls of his feet. He is pretty flat-footed which I assume would be to generate terrifying power, but he doesn't bring terrifying power, so far as his record shows. So that is a weakness. Agree also with deathofaclown on the odds. Wood is the smaller man, older & quite war-worn but he can hit like a MoFo & Cordina has more flaws than the Empire State. 50/50 looks about right.Comment
