I saw no signs of decline in any fight toward the end of Joe's career and I was rooting for him in every one aside from the Jones fight. I never said he didn't hit hard but he has always lacked one punch power as is evident in his only real KO's being against guys who have been wrecked a lot worse by lesser fighters than Joe before and after their fights. I also never, ever heard about Joe injuring his hand in the Jones fight. Not saying it didn't happen, but it certainly didn't effect the fact that Roy was going the distance. Joe was always going to look good against a stationary target on the ropes as Jones has become at the end of his career. Go look at the punch stats and you will see that Roy was even still a more accurate power puncher than Joe at that very declined stage of his career. Prime Roy didn't sit on the ropes and take shots, he circled and fired blinding combinations. Joe just did what he always did and still got dropped by old Roy.

Sorry to lay it down like that man, but that's the truth whether you like it or not.

Proof? See the link. Closest thing to it happening judged by over 80 boxing semi-experts.

Here is Joe Lipsey a man that was like Pavlik back then KOing guys as he movdd up the ranks undefeated, some chose him to beat Hopkins, and then look what happened when he fought a top fighter.

Yeah that's my point exactly. I'm just weighing in here on the topic of Calzaghe's power. I believe it did deteriorate over the years and it was due to his damaged hands.

Better hands or not he got better as a fighter in his 30s and his workrate went way up.

What a beautiful shot. The patience behind it too. That shot would have dropped almost everyone.

And in High Definition too! lmao

It had to, it was the only way to adapt to being injured/having less power -- throw a billion smaller shots and only mix in the heavy ones occasionally.

That was bad ass. Never seen that one before. The punch variety and hand speed was stellar. Makes me wonder how Roy dealt with that so easily.

Not only that, I wish Bernard kept that trunk/sock combo going. That looked kinda pimp, kinda like Katsidis.

now that is real power. something calzaghe could never do even in his early days when he had phantom power. lipsey couldn't get up. i've never seen a calzaghe opponent unable to get up. in fact they all get stopped on their feet and most unjustly.

lol Daggum got out of bed to join this thread. Its like a sixth sense.

You're forgetting about Manfredo. The ropes were actually holding him up, and the gravitational pull on Joe's punches.

Truth be told that Manfredo stoppage was one of the worst I have ever seen. I mean not a single shot landed.
