After Golota got disqualified against Bowe the first time, and the riot at the Madison Square Garden erupted, he was on Conan O'Brien a few days later.

Fury almost losing to Ngannou merely confirmed the low level of today's HW champ, that's all. But in a week or so, the man on the street will probably have forgotten about this fight.
Mike Tyson's era of HW opponent was just as sad... The crack era.
Todays HW div has been a joke since Wlad retired. Fury almost losing to a nobody won't make matters worse.

During Mike's era, there was a different crackhead with a crown each month. No one notable. No HOFer.

Boxing is a ****ing joke in the eyes of every man who is not a diehard fan. Even a diehard fan like me. A ****ing joke. We can't crack an egg.

Probably, but losing to an outsider is different than insiders going wild on eachother.

HW was **** in the Wlad era as well though. Maybe slightly better in terms of talent (even that is arguable) but with less mainstream attention and star power. Literally HW MMA was a bigger deal than HW boxing in the late 00s/early 10s, thats the only time its been the case in the 30 years or so they've co-existed. Say what you will about Fury, Wilder, AJ etc but they managed to claw back some interest in HW boxing at least.

So is the face the criteria of who wins and who loses?

But I know one must post something to comply with the narrative that creates more interest and controversy rather than the one that is more realistic.

Perhaps, in spurts. But one thing's for sure: with Mike Tyson around excitement was guaranteed, whereas Fury is just boring as fùck.

Stop thinking of it as a sport, its not its a business enterprise based around sporting elements.
