It's a crapshoot at the end of the day whether one wants to admit it or not. You can look at two fighters and assume that the ingredients are all there for fireworks and a memorable night but it doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen.

I get what they're saying sometimes fighters getting overpaid (something HBO used to do frequently with the likes of Andre Berto) but if it delivers entertainment wise, then by all means do it.

Nobody knows what unfolds on fight night.

Does anybody here remember more than a decade ago when Golden Boy put on Marcos Maidana in a PPV against what was believed to be the remnants of Erik Morales? Everybody in the media was calling it a farce and that Erik Morales was getting put to pasture against a real slugger.

Erik Morales starts getting pummeled right from the opening gate on the ropes, his eye SWELLING UP and getting purple in real time during the round and it turns out to be one of Erik Morales' gutsiest performances of his career. He claws his way back into the fight, has Maidana hurt on a couple of occasions and shows to everyone how wrong they were.

I guess it's an anomaly, but it happens.

That was the exact fight I was about to bring up. Hearn's put on too many non competitive stinkers to be saying this.

I did read the article. So he's calling on promoters, including himself, to fix a problem that his company probably had the biggest hand in creating. What did I miss?

I overall like Eddie Hearn, but he 100% thought he was going to run over all of his competition with the DAZN money bag he was handed a few years ago. Turns out that he only created a bigger problem for himself, and one that he can't fix all by himself.

That will never happen. Professional boxing is every man for himself because every single fight could be their last.

I mean they all do it but Hearn is the last person to be talking about non-competitive fights.

Hearn is laughably looking to get into stand up comedy. His comment is do disingenuous. Look at how he scammed DAZN by paying Canelo crazy money to fight his stable of UK taxi drivers.

It’s only when the networks get fed up with the outdated garbage fights promoters like him are showing that they have an epiphany. Look how DAZN paid his other fighter AJ, who fights like a deer in headlights. Look at the garbage opponents. Honestly, most of the women fights are more entertaining because they must fight real opponents, yet, don’t make 1% of their male counterparts.

I equate Hearns message like that of an addict. I know I
F-ed up but I just started a 10 step program and I’m getting rehabilitation and on my way to stop stealing from DAZN, my paymaster.

I have been saying for years that if the networks had put their foot down and said these are the fight both we and the fans want, deliver them and we will pay. HBO and Showtime would still be in the boxing business. But greed ego, and the I don’t give a F attitude by all sides are to blame for the sad state of boxing.

Let’s hope that if Amazon decides to get into boxing, that they learn from past mistakes and DON’T align themselves with any promoter, and instead just tell these clowns, these are the fight we’ll pay for regardless of who the promoters are. Watch how quick everyone gets in line and watch how quickly fights get made way before their expiration dates.

For boxing fans, thank goodness free streaming services are available because nobody should pay for the garbage these unscrupulous promoters are asking fans to pay between $50 and $100 bucks for on PPV, their go to hustle.

Eddie Hearn, my brother in Christ....

You were literally paying Demetrius Andrade and Tevin Farmer MILLIONS of dollars to fight bums.

YOU are a significant part of the problem.

                  Also Eddie,
Who's Ajs next opponent? Wilder we get Franklin, Wilder we get Helenius after Whyte & he's still spouting Wilder but we'll get Agit.

The problem is simple, the best are not fighting the best. Boxers try to extend their career as much as possible by fighting lesser opposition. Less risk for more pay. Take less risky opponents, but fight more often to make the bag. It's killing the hand that feeds them, by losing fans to other combat sports.
