Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson: When I Smoke Loma, World Would Understand That I Really Am The Truth

Shakur Stevenson still isn't sure why he isn't preparing to fight Vasiliy Lomachenko next month. According to Stevenson, the three-division champion from Ukraine was offered a career-high purse to box him. They're both promoted by Bob Arum's Top Rank Inc. as well, which should make it easier to complete a deal for Stevenson-Lomachenko.

Based on what happened with Haney Im sure Loma realizes that if the fight is close judges will give it to the younger guy in Shakur who Top rank is trying to build into a star

Loma is getting old with one foot out the door and is probably getting tired of facing fighters who are welterweights on fight night. Shakur is going to have problems getting anyone in the ring with him but maybe if the PBC completely implodes some of those guys can fight him.

Shakur is quickly moving up the ranks and about to hit Top 5 P4P Blowhard status.

Loma waited a few a years too long to go pro. Robbed us all, he has all timer skill, but his body is falling apart from years of wear and tear.

Loma might possibly pull out a few more incredible displays in his career, and on the right night, he might shock Shakur. But Shakur does beat him 8 out of 10 fights at this point.

When your joints start going south, you may as well retire. Loma will always be seen as the fighter who might have been a legend. Sucks.

It's too late for a win over Lomachenko to be that meaningful. The guy is old for these lower weight classes and undersized for 135. A few years back it would have really meant something to beat him , not so much now.

It doesn't make sense to me for these guys to stay so long as amateurs , for a medal , when they could be building a pro career and making money. At the end of the day , one Gold medal is enough to get the benefits of Olympic Glory from.
