Loma was competitive against two young guns in Ortiz/Haney, but he's gonna slip eventually. I think Shakur just needs to stay active, kicking ass and cleaning LW up. In the event that he doesn't get Loma, there's still Kambosos/Muratalla/Martin/Zepeda. It would also be a good look for Shakur if he can face Giovanni Cabrera, who arguably beat Isaac Cruz.

If Loma is being offered what Shakur says he is...then the fight will probably happen. People were saying Loma ducked Haney, but it happened while the match-up was still meaningful. Loma has been pretty consistent in terms of his quality of opposition.
Lomacheno was offered a career-high payday to fight Shakur.

Isnt that what an aging fighter wants, big money for his last fights?

If you ask the PBC affiliates, Davis is the top of their list. Loma isn't an opponent that young fighters will turn down, but he isn't the primary target anymore.

Sure they do. But Loma doesn't want to embarrass himself either. A guy with his pedigree wants to WIN, and he's not gonna step into a bout thinking otherwise. Loma was arrogant enough to face Teo with a messed-up shoulder instead of postponing the bout. Loma will want to be 100% mind/body before he faces Shakur, he won't want to replicate the same mistake he made with Teo.

Loma may be ducking Shakur, but at least he doesn't owe him anything. Loma has no title, therefore no responsibility to face any particular contender. Shakur has a decent opponent and a title shot next, so I think Shakur is just trying to market his potential match-up with Loma by antagonizing him a bit.

I guess Lomachenko can choose to either take a career-high payday OR take a much lower purse and not embarrass himself.

A third option would be retirement.

The easiest opponent Loma can get away with is Kambosos, and that's only if he becomes too inactive. If he isn't facing Shakur immediately, I don't see him facing the likes of Muratalla. Shakur is the most sensible opponent, outside of Davis.
