Yes, yes, I agree with this. It needs to happen if one cares enough to see boxing flourish. Fighters who insist on demanding unreasonable paychecks let them rot. Fans should be getting more value for their money. Make 3-4 main cards in one event and promote them equally. This sport needs to build many stars, not just 1 or 2. It can't go on putting all that chunk of the budget on just 1 or 2 fighters. What needs to be done is a major overhaul of the business. Spread the resources around, not just 2 fighters benefiting for one fight getting a big slice of the entire budget. Make undercards more attractive and refer to them as co-main or co-features. Reduce purses and make it a take it or leave it system, so that boxers are forced to fight more often. Hundreds of fighters are willing to fight for less money as long as it's regular just like in the UFC model.
I for one don't follow particular fighters. They fight once a year anyways, what's the point?

PBC has destroyed every relationship with every broadcaster that they ever had (ESPN, Bounce, Spike TV, CBS, NBC, Fox, Showtime). I dont see why Amazon would want to go down this road, considering that they are already doing just fine developing their own content. Content that will still generate views 5, 10, 15 years down the road, or even longer in syndication. 99% of fights are viewed only once, and then forgotten forever.
I could see PBC doing a "ProBox" type thing and selling subs direct to consumer. It wouldnt generate enough money for their top 20 or 25 fighters, those fights could still be distributed on indy PPVs. But the app revenue might be able to keep the remaining 200 or so fighters in PBC stable busy until they work their way up to PPV level.......Last edited by OnePunch; 10-18-2023, 04:17 PM.Comment

Wow very well said!!What needs to be done is a major overhaul of the business. Spread the resources around, not just 2 fighters benefiting for one fight getting a big slice of the entire budget. Only thing I would add is making more of the best fighting the best and equally competitive fights in all tiers.
That would really change the sport for much better man.Comment

I mean that's the age old problem, they'd better not.
If they went to DAZN fans would be demanding more mixed-promotional fights. It's better for the sport all around.Comment
