If they exclude this Fury win then it makes up for still including his win against Hammer, which was supposed to be a no contest.
Why is Fury vs. Ngannou not on Boxrec?

It doesn't need to be sanctioned by any of the alphabet orgs if no titles are on the line. If it is sanctioned by any recognised athletic or sports commission, it will be a real, official boxing match.Last edited by kafkod; 10-13-2023, 01:59 PM.Comment

LOL yea. What exhibition has ever had a rematch clause???
From everything I've seen & heard about this fight its a legit, go on your record, judged by 3 blind, deaf & ****** mfers & all the normal sh^t that happens in a legit fight kind of fight.
If some of y'all are dis*****g that you are gonna need more proof than boxrec is fooking around with their schedule like they've been doing for yrs esp with Frank & Bob fights cuz Frank has sued them before iirc & Bob doesn't like his full cards showing up til closer to the fight cuz other promoters may poach b-side opps.Last edited by Eff Pandas; 10-13-2023, 03:47 PM.Comment

ESPN is reporting that the fight will not count on their records.
Fury's WBC heavyweight title won't be on the line in his 10-round bout with Ngannou and it won't count on their records.Comment

I was listening to Dan Rafael's podcast and he was trying to get a real answer from anybody but couldn't. Nobody has a 100% surefire answer. If they want to call it a real boxing match, then call it. If not, call it an exhibition. But they've got their feet under both categories...and that screams: "Fury wins, it's official. If Francis wins, then it was just an exhibition."
You nailed it!
If the WBC heavyweight champion of the world lost to a UFC fighter having his first ever boxing match, the sport of boxing would become a laughing stock in the eyes of the world. So the boxing authorities are hedging their bets. They have decided that, until the fight is over, it is neither a real fight nor an exhibition, but has the potential to be either, depending on how it goes.
If Fury wins, it will be revealed as a real, sanctioned fight and the result entered into the boxing records.
If Fury doesn't win, it will be revealed as an exhibition match with no winner, no loser and no official result.
