Canelo never has had KO power. But on a scale of 1-10 almost all of Canelos punches register a 7-8. And they just keep hitting you everywhere. He likes to hit his opponents arms as an objective to weaken them as well. So by the end of a fight you got nothing but feel like a bruise and that's when he can take you out. But of course at any time if he catches you flush....

Fighters can be good enough to do the minimum and disengage with power punchers, basically go 12.
I do think 168-175 fighters take Canelo’s power better than 154-160lb fighters, naturally, they’re bigger.
But with Charlo a lot of people, even pro fighters, agree that he was just there to go 12. And I think Charlo is good enough to do that.
Canelo’s power is going to be underestimated because he has 3 decision wins in a row now. Which ever fighter is next up, hopefully Benavidez, is going to learn very quickly into the match that Canelo’s power is still there. They will then proceed with caution and open up less. Probably lose a decision because they’re going to decide to “box smart” after feeling those hard counters.
I pray to the boxing gods that it is Benavidez-Andrade winner next.

Jose Benavidez, Sr. May be onto something. Canelo cannot afford to get in a firefight with Benavidez who is naturally larger and stronger than Jermell Charlo. If Canelo couldn't hurt Charlo; Then I just don't see how he can win this fight.
Stamina issues are forcing Alvarez to average throwing only 32 punches per round and most of them are single punches. While on the other hand, David will more than double Canelo's low punch volume and work rate.
If canelo doesn't throw enough punches. Then I just don't see how he can win.Rebelrbg likes this.

Power don't win fights alone, apart from discouraging opponent, and whilst benavides is discouraged and thinking, Nell snapping his head back and making him whoozyLast edited by hugh grant; 10-10-2023, 05:05 AM.

He's no slouch....and he had to take a knee.
Sr Benavidez better prepare his son for Canelo as if Canelo has power, or his son might be in for a rude awakening.
Canelo still has power!

Canelo won't fight Bivol again. He knows better. That's why he's been fighting who he's fighting: he needs his confidence rebuilt. Bivol- and Mayweather - showed that a solid jab and movement are enough to beat Canelo.Zaroku likes this.
