    No it wasn't.

    It was at 170.

    168 is the SMW limit.

Anything above a division limit has to then if anything be considering the division above.

Just like how JMM and May was a Welterweight fight.

Hardly evidence of a SMW? If you fight at 168 that's SM, correct? Evidence? The hell you speak of?

Anything above a weight division limit, is the next division up in my book, so it was LHW.

Just like how JMM and May was a Welterweight fight.
Enrique Ornelas LAST fight he weighed in at 167.5, in a super middle weight fight against Roberto Baro on a Golden Boy card in LA.

Ok then... JMM is a welterweight. Thanks for clearing all this up.

You don't fight tuneups at his age and being regarded as the "supposed" LHW best. You fight Chad Dawson. Period.

Very different scenario obviously, being that JMM has no intentions of staying at 147 and was a one time thing.

Just for fun though, it's interesting to note he's been in the ring with Bernard Hopkins before, as well as Oscar De La Hoya, Mikkel Kessler, Julio Gonzalez and Shane Mosley:

Because that's bull****. If Bernard came out with a bottom tier top 10 LHW, even a top 15 LHW as a tune up then great, grand, fantastic... Let's get the show on the road.

But the 13th ranked middleweight? You just SMOKED the #1 MIDDLEWEIGHT last year, now you want a tune up against #13? Two weight divisions low?

So it's bull**** to "assume" I wouldn't like this news just because I like Roy Jones, I have nothing against Bernard and I often go to bat for Bernard.

A tuneup is great, I understand what a tune up is... Just seems a little underkill, for a tune up.

And please don't compare Roys recent oponent list to Bernard. Roy isnt one of the top LHW's and he isn't on the p4p list, so don't talk about what Roy does and why it's ok for Bernard.
I agree that for a tune up it is rather weak but at the end of the day it is what it is, a tune up.

This fight is simply a very low risk for Hopkins which will help shake his ring rust off.

                  nothing more, nothing less.

So you'd prefer him not to fight at all for a year and a half? ******

I thought you were on about Hops. WHHHoooops my bad.

Enrique has moved around between 160-168 it seems ya.

Still though, this fight will likely be at 170 Hops favourite catch weight.

It does look a bit stinky, that'll be the 4th straight opponent he's faced that's been lighter than him and generally associated with a division below.

I wish he'd just nab a belt of a CW to be honest, he seemed willing so all credit to him. To go from that to this, just with the rust excuse annoys me, he could done something like this a few months ago to keep busy, then fought a CW, then fought Roy.
