The Klitschko brothers Gain Weight during training camp...ODD

It caught my attention to what was said during the fight with Vitali vs. Arreola fight that the Klitscho brothers increase weight for their fight. Now I've seen pictures of Wlad before and after so I wasn't shocked with what was said but I wonder how much they each increase.....can't remember if it was said.

A few people have mentioned this with me in discussion recently about how they found it odd that they look smaller in the off-season than they do when they fight. My friend was one of them when he saw Wlad pop up on Talk Soup...and then another friend was discussing what was said during the Vitali fight. And of course, it has been discussed in the past with what athletes could be taking to bulk up or even slim down.

    So here is my question:
What are your thoughts on why/how they gain weight for the fight since obviously it isn't there normal walk around weight and they are bulking up.

    Here is mine:

One, they like the increased weight for strength advantage. Increased muslce-weight on such tall frames wouldn't hinder them as much as a smaller man.

While most Heavyweights and other division fighters allow their bodies to increase weight when they are not fighting and have to focus on taking off weight in training and for the fight....the Klitschko brothers since they are already lean and in decent shape...can focus on building up during training camp. Now, how much can you increase during boxing training which is intense...not sure. With modern science, and will stick with legal means...it may be quite possible if done right and the Klitschko brothers are certainly smart guys that understand the human body as well as having money for advisors.

Two: Modern Science...either legal means or illegal means with PEDs.

I tend to favor the first because that is what I hope and was my first response, but wouldn't be surprised with the second given today's athletes being able to get a hold of certain PEDs.

Well, maybe when they aren't training they still eat healthily so as not to put much fat on, but because they aren't training they lose some of the muscle they put on during training and muscle weighs something like 3x as much as fat. When they go back into training thy regain the muscle they lost when they were away?

Because they don't have to cut down to a certain weight it seems plausable.

Are you attempting to create su****ion that the Klitschkos are doing something illegal with this thread?

Of course, you didn't say it directly, you never do...

And of course, you said you hope it's not true...which was a clever way of covering up what you're actually doing.

You're a crafty guy, Benny Leonard. But why not use your intelligence for something more constructive and positive, rather than smearing a couple of fine heavyweight champions by creating unfounded su****ions?

In theory if you start off light and work your conditioning to the highest level you can then increase your weight slowly making sure you don't lose that conditioning along the way.

It probably provides them with a mental edge more than anything that they can look in the mirror and say, "I am as big as I can be, as strong as I can be, and in the best shape I can be. Now all I have to do is the easy part."

That's the first thing to pop into my head but that is based on my own experience with weight-training when I'm on and off lifting weights and eating accordingly based on what I'm doing. When I'm not lifting, I cut back my meals and my weight decreases about 10 pounds.

But, I'm never participating in boxing training so I'm asking it especially for people that go through intense boxing training or just intense training sessions on any level despite the sport.

Fighters still gain weight during training camp to move up in weight (in the lower weight divisions) so it is not unheard of...but how much and are they doing it clean is what I'm asking. Of course everybody is different in genetics as well so we have to keep that in mind.

With Protein Powders and other supplements and new training ways....I can see it very possible even for boxing...but of course we have the alternative means.

Everything is a conspiracy with you...especially with ***s, Blacks, or anything against the Christians, or the Klitschko brothers or white race.

I have my thoughts and the topic at hand interested me more when more people I talked to brought it up first to me and asked me my opinion...so I am interested in other opinions on the topic that may have a better understanding of what it is like to go through boxing training or any other intense training session in a sport to increase muscle-weight.

I can't go by my view as complete since I don't have the experience at that level.

This Topic with athletes has been brought up before with MANY athletes and I've discussed it with them as well.

The Topic also touches on how fans see the modern athletes. How much trust is in them being "natural". And it is something I am interested in.

Well giving it some thought it's not major surprising at least I don't think.

The Klit's have huge frames and in fight they're muscley mofo's.

They're not that toned and muscley all year round, so if it's to a reasonable degree and they do just focus more on fitness more than first imagined - than yeah, not surprising.

I think it may be as simple as Wlad feels more comfortable and likes the way he looks better at the lighter weight.

I'm about 6'4 myself and work out quite a bit. I prefer myself to be 210 pounds of good lean muscle to 230 pounds of rock hard biceps and bloated pecs. If I was gonna fight somebody though you can be damn sure I would put some of that weight back on because I would be comfortable in my ability to carry it and maintain my other physical advantages.

It wouldn't surprise me. This goes for most athletes in boxing, and pro sports in general.

People want to believe that everything is all honest and on a level playing field but PED use is probably much more rampant than sports fans want to believe.
