Just to set the record straight . . . Charlo didn't jump two weight classes to "challenge Canelo Alvarez".

He jumped two weight classes. No.1 - For a boatload of money.

Haney was a nobody and still is in comparison. Fulton was backed by Haymon/PBC/SHO, how come they never made any offer to Inoue so they can do it in Vegas?

Probably because Haymon/PBC/SHO didn't want to pay anywhere near the amount that Fulton was guaranteed to get if he fought in Japan?

If the internet news outlets are correct, Fulton got guaranteed $3 million for the Inoue fight. Until then his biggest purse ever in his career was the $500k guaranteed + PPV bonus for maximum $1 million he made against Figueroa, and the third highest was $500k. I am not going to claim to be able to read Fulton's mind, but I'm sure the fact that he was in line to get triple the highest purse he ever got by just agreeing to fly to Japan was a major factor for him not arguing to have it held in Vegas. Given that Inoue REALLY wanted those belts, I'm sure he would've agreed in the end to fight in the USA if Fulton was dead set on only accepting to fight him in Vegas (for maybe another $1 million). $3 million might sound like chump change compared to the hefty prices the heavier guys are getting, but by context the Fulton-Inoue purse was by far the biggest monetary record for 130 and below bout ever in history of boxing.

By the way, due to my job I've been jumping accross the Pacific Ocean atleast twice a year for majority of the last decade, but jet lag doesn't take THAT long to recover. 11 days is more than enough to get rid of the jet lag, get in a normal working routine, and then be prepared to fight. If I'm playing devil's advocate and going to make an excuse for going to a foreign country, it will be more believable if someone mentions the difference in food available or water safety...but then again, Australia isn't THAT different in food availability compared to US, and not exactly a third world country where you have to fear potential bacteria from the waters.
