Charlo claimed he was 172-173 pounds in the morning, which is believable as he looked pretty good in the weigh in and not dehydrated at all... which he should have had really good stamina not having to cut any weight and his actual weight is not that much different, he was 18-19 pounds above 154 which is probably close to what he was cutting.

Charlo didnt gain any "14 pounds" he gained 5 pounds tops over his normal fighting weight with the added benefit of not having to cut massive water weight. All of those benefits and he still fought scared

Sorry, that makes no sense. Why do you think boxers cut weight? Because being the bigger, stronger, larger-framed man will help, even if you have to suffer to do it. Mell doesn't routinely make 154 to suffer for the good of his soul. He makes 154 so he can have reach & height on his opponents. If you're saying that fighting at his 'walking around weight' wasn't a disadvantage for Mell then that is ridiculous.

Agree, truth be told it was a good payday for both men. Canelo didn't get hurt. Mell got beat up a bit but he'll be fine. Onwards & upwards to Benavidez for Canelo & Tim Tszyu for Mell. The massive problem for Canelo is Bivol saying he will come to 168. Canelo doesn't want the rematch but it is looking bad if he ducks that Bivol smoke! He best hope Beterbiev v Bivol comes off!
Get it right stop with the BS.

Canelo wants the bivol rematch st 175 same weight but bivol doesn't he's bitching out incase he loses to keep his trinket.

State the facts Bivol turned down the fight not canelo. That dumb idiot thought a win over Canelo made him boss the idiot obviously doesn't know how the sport works.

You got that backwards. Canelo doesn't want it at 168 because he doesn't want to lose HIS trinkets.

Stop with your own BS. If Canelo wanted the fight it would have been made. Bivol even offered a catchweight.

What the f%%k was he doing in his training camp. I loss a lot of respect for Charlo. By Jermell's own account, he is in the ring at about 175 when he weighs in at 154. Maybe for this fight he put on 5 pounds, probably less I think.

It was also the extra weight that prevented him not getting knock the fckout ,there was nothing wrong Physically you could see by the way he moved around the ring, lil charlo just went full gunshy zero commitment letting his hands go once got taste of real smw powa. His punches did absolutely nothing to the ginger and he's a hard hitter himself in his division. Having said that I still got Charlo-Tim a 50/50 fight.

You guys have to understand how muscle, fat, and water works.

if a fighter can shrink down to 154 lbs one fight, and the next fight he’s at 168 lbs, that does not in any way shape form or fashion mean he’s added 14 lbs of muscle. That would be impossible without the help of steroids. Especially for a professional athlete who has had years of resistance training already. You’re not getting 14 lbs of gains that fast.

the only thing that 14 lbs of added weight indicate is that the fighter is more hydrated at the weigh in cuz he’s cut less water. Sure he maybe added a couple lbs of muscle and cut a lot less fat. But muscle is what’s doing the work at the end of the day. It’s what is helping w your power, it’s what is helping you stand up, move, and handle your opponents weight when they hold lean and grab on you.

So I ts still 154ish lbs of muscle Vs 168ish lbs of muscle.

                  That’s a big difference.

but you’re right. End of the day Charlo asked for the fight and payday, and took the fight and pay day so he def has to deal w people talking down on him for that crap he pulled. His retirement fund is a little fatter, now go back to 154/160 and hopefully redeem yourself. The Bud fight is a no go at this point though cuz of the goose egg he put up. No interest there.

John Ryder showed more heart and skill than Charlo who really did humiliate himself with a no effort performance. These types of massive let downs in fights the world is watching really hurt the sport. Canelo’s next fight needs to be against someone capable of fighting back with size and heart

Timing was off due to the lay off and hanf speed was shot due to the weight gain.

But still, dude could have at least tried.

He was afraid to even jab at times, nevermind letting his hands go.
