Leverage in negotiations is about who has options and Bivol has none right now.

As for AJ/Ruiz there’s 2 big other factors. Ruiz took AJ’s HW titles so he had incentive to get them back. And Ruiz being the first Mexican HW champ had value in interest in a rematch.
No one cares about Bivol and being Russian hurts him right now.
For what? Are you kidding? He got his a$$ handed to him by bivol. If he wants to avenge that defeat he have to pay more, what I think happened was canelo didn't want to pay a penny for another a$$ whooping.

Because the weight doesn’t matter. Unless some seriously crooked scorecards are involved (not out of the question), Canelo flat out can’t/won’t/didn’t beat Bivol. Canelo knows that and that’s why the rematch will NEVER happen.

Bivol was offered the rematch at the same terms as the first fight. He turned it down.
Canelo wins at 168 they will say Bivol was weight drained.
Good luck to Bivol who is still struggling to secure his next fight despite his big win while Canelo just pulled another $50 million last night. Levels.
So when your hero doesn’t have the testicular fortitude to even try to avenge a loss, it’s time to break out the A side/B side bu!!shyte. Canelo knows he can’t/won’t/didn’t beat Bivol.

Yet Bivol is prepared to live with that disadvantage and Canelo still won’t fight him.

Bivol offered him a catchweight with rehydration clause for Bivol, and he turned it down. Made excuses about how he didn't want to look like he was draining Bivol, but had no problems putting all kinds of constraints on Kovalev and no problem fighting a guy coming up two weight classes. Truth is he doesn't want to fight Bivol again. Notice how Beterbiev isn't on his list? If he wanted Bivol again, he could claim Beterbiev's titles. But no, now he's talking about Munguía, and still "non-committal" about Benavidez.

Charlo showed up for a paycheck, that's it.

He offered Bivol the same amount of money. Bivol can make the same fighitng 2-3 tomato cans. Makes no sense to fight canelo with the same terms and get paid peanuts.

He already beat him, canelo is the one that put the rematch clause, he didn't active it, he let it expired, he is the one butt hurt, he is the one coming with excuses, a couple of millions are not going to make any difference for him, why not pay the guy a little bit more and get him in the ring and avenge the a$$ whooping?
