Tried his best: He didn't want to put up his titles and rematch at 168, and at 175 he insisted Bivol accept the same $5 million he earned for their first fight. Is that really your "best"?

What did he lose? He’s making the same money, was already a hall of famer, all time great, and one of the best Mexican fighters ever.
Still the biggest draw in the sport.Comment

Shut up Canelo. You were never gonna beat Bivol. Instead of fighting Bivol you chose PBC route which is the easier way. And I'm not mad about it. Just be quiet and don't act like you actually wanted the Bivol rematch you were never gonna win.Comment

100 percent. You don't offer the guy the same amount of money in a rematch that would make you even more money. More people will tune in to see canelo avenge his loss.Comment

He lost to the better fighter and that’s much more than just about money......in all walks of life it’s human nature to be the best at what they do and Bivol schooled the ginger bread man and showed he is second best....period

Canelo does challenge himself - kind of - I mean maybe not the challenges we want to see and when we wanted to see them. Like Benavidez now and Golovkin when he was hiding out at 155 - but yeah, he cleared out the SMW belts and fought Lara, Kovalev and Bivol. I'm convinced Bivol was a cherry pick that went wrong after he saw Bivol perform badly against Richards.Let's not act like EVERYONE takes the challenges Canelo takes! Has Bivol fought outside the 175lb. Division? Bivol can't even get a fight with Beterbiev! He should've accepted the Canelo deal, unless he had a better deal! He did NOT, and now he has what? Bad business decision...period!
But good/bad business is not only about the money you make. It's about whether you can make money and not be unfairly robbed. Bivol came that close to losing against Canelo because of corrupt judges - but you don't seem to want to acknowledge that. Why not?
Do you know how much Bivol made in the first fight? How much Canelo offered him in the second fight? If you do then please send us a link. I'm not just blindly accepting Canelo's word that they tried hard to make the fight. It's all on him as the A side. If he offered Bivol the same or barely more than he got for the first fight then it wasn't a fair offer considering the high risk of being screwed on the cards - as already happened when it should have been scored 118-110 but ended up a disgraceful 115-113.
Bivol will have to reset and fight someone at 168 for decent money, and/or wait for the Beterbiev fight, and/or wait for Beterbiev to get beaten and challenge that fighter.Comment
