  • Comments Thread For: Crawford Trainer 'Bomac': If Spence Was Weight Drained, That's Just Bad Coaching on Derrick James' Part

Trainer Brian McIntyre doesn't buy the notion that Errol Spence Jr. lost to Terence Crawford because of his weight cut. But if Spence was in fact truly diminished from the weight that he needed to drop to make the 147-pound limit, McIntyre says the blame should be directed at his own trainer, Derrick James.

There was no catch weight, rehydration clauses, weight stips of any kind, they both fought at the Welterweight limit which is 147. So why all the excuses?

This is indeed all on James for not preparing his fighter correctly and adding insult to injury, possibly ruined Spence forever by not throwing in the towel earlier.

Spence has never done himself any favors physically between camps.

Why can't Bud just be the better fighter? Does anyone ever notice that Bud fights to the level of his opposition? Looked amazing against Postol when no one wanted to fight him at the time. Cleaned out 140. He fights great against great fighters. Fights Benavidez, Lundy, etc and fights good. When it's time to be great he exceeds expectation. Also, PBC knows how to promote their fighters. We should enjoy watching our modern day Henry Armstrong.

You do have eyes though right? In boxing people get old and drained overnight. And when you are a p4p fighter your wins will be scrutinized. We do it with Floyd, Manny, Canelo, and every other fighter of note. Crawford is no different.

The Spence camp will have to pay extra to fight at 154. It won’t be free.

You don't know how the body reacts until you make weight , they did a lot of things new so its actually easy for something to fck up. There were rumours Errol was running in sweat suits a few days before the fight if true its not good.

Trainer Vergil Hunter says he heard from one of his sources that Errol Spence Jr ran Mount Charleston five miles the week before his with Terence Crawford. Hunter believes that the combination of Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) running uphill on Mount Charleston, Nevada, and training in the high heat of Dallas & Las Vegas potentially took something out of him.
