Comments Thread For: Association of Boxing Commissions Meet To Formalize Guidelines So That Knockdown Rounds Be Scored 10-8

The only exception being that you dominated the rest of the round, enough to warrant a 10-8 for yourself. This rule is very rarely applied nowadays though. It was actually one of the replacement rules for the standing 8 count, which hasn’t been used by the ABC since the late 90s
Its not a difficult or controversial ruleComment

As long as you have different interpretations of what "dominating" means, you're still going to have one-off judges with 10-9 or 10-10 cards.Comment

It is about time they are having this discussion. It should be a discussion. How do you score a round 10-9 when a guy is dominating the round, but putting the guy down…and the guy taking the punishment outs you down. It 10-8 on every knockdown regardless. That will end the score card controversy. 10-10 rounds should be rare and 10-9 rounds shouldn’t be scored when there is a knockdown in that round.Comment

Why isn’t that domination round scored 10-8 if you dominate a guy the whole round and didn’t go down? There are clear reasons for this.

I disagree with this decision. While Moretti's 10 - 10 was an outrageous score in the 2nd round, based on the round, the judges were right to score the round 10 - 9 for Davis. The same goes for the Kambosos vs. Lopez 1st round. Simple-minded consideration by a simple-minded commission during a simple-minded era.

You read that backwards.
I said if you lose the round in every way and then YOU score the knockdown. You should only get a 10-9 round.
obviously, if you lose the round and get knocked down, a 10-8 is appropriate.Comment
