I disagree with this decision. While Moretti's 10 - 10 was an outrageous score in the 2nd round, based on the round, the judges were right to score the round 10 - 9 for Davis. The same goes for the Kambosos vs. Lopez 1st round. Simple-minded consideration by a simple-minded commission during a simple-minded era.

If you lose the round in every other way but score a knockdown, why shouldn't it be just 10-9?

Not referring to the Davis/Garcia fight, whatever happened there I don't care, but in general.

My five points;

1. Why isnt there a 5 point must system? if they only go down to 6 from 10, then scores of 1-5 arent even going to be used. So just use a 5 point scoring system.
2. Why didnt they address which judge is supposed to give a draw or a close decision to the B-side, which 1 gives a ridiculous wide decision to the A-side, and which gives a close decision to the A-side, if the B-side is clearly winning? Sometimes they get confused and the B-side gets a deserved win by mistake.
3. The re-emergence of the stiff arm needs to be addressed. is it just for the A-side? How soon should a point be taken from the B-side? And is holding and hitting legal now for the A-side?
4. How many times must an A-side be warned for a foul before a point is taken? Should they stop warning them altogether?
5. Are some refs not giving the A-side enough time to recover when hurt?


The real question is, why are the promoters the ones who pay the judges and not the state athletic commission?

No knockdowns, but a clear dominating winning of the round - 10-8

Question is, you need to define "dominating".

Some judges will look at ineffective aggression as dominating (Chino).
Some judges will look at absolutely dull boxing masterclasses as dominating ("Boring Ass" Frank Sanchez)

You're not going to solve the problem without clear definitions of what you mean.
