He is tall and can step clear across the ring after he lands, plus he is in the position to choose ring size................put him in a smaller ring with a hard slugger.

        Um...

        Johnson
        Lewis
        Ali
        Holmes

And against a hell of a lot better comp.

          Wouldn't say that.

He is very good at using his height and reach.

keep dreaming the dream of 10-20+ years ago where every heavyweight seems better now than when they were boxing.

and what a spectacle it was!
out of the 1000+ fights i have seen, that was literally one of the most amazing, unpredictable, most fun and equally matched fights i have ever seen.

that was one of those fights where i remembered exactly the moment in time where i was, with whom, and all that other ****. we havent had a war like that since, in the HW division at least.

it was an instant classic since round 2.

none of those fighters fought with a low guard consistently and as a deliberate tactic, maybe when showboating or fighting someone *****. maybe johnson did at times because he sometimes fought fellas 5 foot 10 and 13 stone but vitali dwarfs jack and, lets be honest, would batter him

vitali is the only HW ever who has been succesful with a low guard due to his all-round skill at keeping people at distance

yeah me too, can remember exactly where i was, was like a HW version of gatti v ward, very rare you see a slug fest between two HWs, because usually a decent dig off a handy HW is curtains for the recipient. for once lennox wasnt susceptible to a random KO because he was fully aware of the fact he was in the ring with someone who could murder him if he wasnt careful. let's not forget this was the fight with the heaviest overrall weight for a boxing match ever at the time (valuev has skewed these figures since and probably williams v vitali too) and both men didnt touch the deck once

legendary fight and one i'll watch forever

right, and it is not just his height, cause despite whoever says he fights tall, well he does, but many times he is in a semi crouch to draw in a punch. he uses skills that people dont easily see. he has an internal clock and internal rhythm. so, even when he looks faily still, there are weight shifts in his body so that he never has to go from 0-60 flat. it is just a small shift of movement that moves his mass from middle-outwards.

and he has damn fine listening skills. he can pick up tells from his opponents better than anyone i have seen in boxing. and, he has the best overall body intelligence - or at least compared with floyd maywheather.

i would say his martial arts training, whether karate or kickboxing, or anything else he picked up from that skillset he has integrated into his boxing - hs it looks very very different from other typical boxers.

no, he's bigger and stronger than anyone else in his division, he's fundamentally sound. with this he can beat all the other fatties with no head movement with ease.

He already lost to a terrible looking version of Lewis. End of.
