Comments Thread For: Oleksandr Usyk Drops Daniel Dubois Twice, Knocks Him Out in Ninth

Usyk body reaction wasn’t like after a solid body shot. We’ve seen it a hundred of times after a solid body shot reaction comes a few seconds later that’s how humans body works, when it’s a low blow - reaction comes immediately
Watching in real time it didn’t look low at all
Usyk’s reaction sold it if he was faking it
Watching replays you could make a point and say he might of clipped his ball sack coming up
But the story is how bad Dubois looked from the get go and I believe you are right saying Joyce took his soul
Another thing though is Usyk should of been fighting the way he did after the knockdown from the get go
All I’ll say is I’ve witnessed much worse calls that this one
Also I believe Pabon should be investigated for his uttermost disgusting way of handling the aftermath from the knockdown

You can still struggle and not look good but still make c level opponents with no heart quit if you pick it up at a certain point. Ironic right? Next time, try a more educated response. You Usyk d riders are hilarious.Comment

Hey Rexy, I thought the end of this fight was similar to the end of AJ vs Ruiz in some respects, and very different in others.
Similarities: A big, powerful British HW ran out of gas in a world title fight after doing well early on and stumbled to his knees after taking a shot to the head that probably wouldn't have bothered him too much if he'd still been fresh.
Differences: One guy stayed on his knees after going down and allowed the ref to count him out. The other dragged himself up at the count of 8 and nodded his head when the ref asked him if he wanted to box on.
What do you think, mate?Comment

Good point, I thought the same thing myself watching it in real time.
My instinctive reaction was - woah ... WTF happened there? Rather than wow .. great body shot!Last edited by kafkod; 08-27-2023, 08:50 AM.Comment

Well said. It's too bad his shot against a decent non-AJ contender is now muddled by the cut low blow debate. But I think the same way you do.
Thank you!! I finally got to look...
I don't even know the rules but the blow looked like half his glove was below the bottom of the trunk lining. regardless, I think Usyk got hit on the cup... Again I don't know the rules... But it looked like Usyk had his trunks normal height, his body reaction showed a cup shot. You can see how a body shot, a liver shot, a cup shot, all have different reactions.
I guess the question would be if getting hit on the cup in and of itself is a low blow? Or if one can hit half on, half below, the trunk line.

Yes, after watching this one, I think Fury would handle him if they ever were to fight.Edit: seeing the angles it was borderline
. That said, had it been a knockdown and Usyk had seen a count, he likely would have gotten up. He was playing it up.
Dubois sucks. He said he was going to rough him up and take it to him, he looked like a scared fighter for much of the fight. He didn't get hurt by those last punches, he quit because he was totally gassed.
I'm going to go ahead and say that a 6'7 260 pound guy that boxes ten times better than Dubois, has an incredibly high ring IQ, and a ******ed punch resistace....as well as being the only guy to stop Wilder.....yeah, he will **** Usyk up.
Personally, I dont think Usyk looked as good in this one. Physique and footwork. Seemed to be taking some deep breaths even by second round. Maybe Im wrong, but he looked less accurate too.

Dubois didn't earn this fight. He is a weak heavyweight with a feather chin. He has very little boxing skills outside of a strong right hand. No combinations, lousy and slow jab, no head movement, no defense, low punch output and zero ringmanship. So what did we get from Usyk & Joshua? Marginal opponents like Helenius and Dubois. Really?Usyk was not going to lose this fight either way... The ref and judges would bail him out anyway. This entire thing was a propaganda stunt and I feel bad for Usyk being used that way himself.
In any case, Fury mauls Usyk.... videos were leaking about Usyk getting knocked down in training camp and Dubois just showed exactly what to do.
Feel bad for the kid, but he also did not take the opportunity to close it... even after the 5 minutes Usyk got to recuperate.Last edited by Rockenator; 08-27-2023, 09:01 AM.Comment

I thought Usyk really dropped his guard in the later rounds. Of course Dubois couldn't do anything with that as he can't put any combinations together. A single punch boxer hoping to land the big one like we hope to win the lotto. The uppercut was there all night and someone like Fury and Wilder (and even Anderson) would capitalize on that. I think Usyk is a skilled boxer with a decent defense but against a real heavyweight, he'd struggle mightily.
