Comments Thread For: Jared Anderson: I'm Not In This For The Legacy; I'm In This For The Business

So you’re suggesting that boxers should ignore the wishes of the paying customers? No other sport gets away with doing this.
The fans care about one thing and one thing only: seeing someone get knocked out.
Fans are fickle, and legacy is subjective. Make the most money; fight whoever you want; and the fans will pay to see what they want to pay to see. When the venue is closed, and the lights are turned off, no fan cares about what happened; they care about what will happen next.
Ignore these fans and their P4P lists. That is something for them to entertain themselves with. But the boxer must put the interest of the boxer in first place, or end up like most boxers, a shell of yourself and disgraced.Comment

Everyones priority is the biggest payday regardless every boxer regardless if they claim legacy first. But others have got a passion for it at least? Anderson maybe has a bit not as much passion as other boxers after that clip with roy jones cryingComment

I think the comments from Anderson are a little contrived. He knows he is young and he knows the cans he has been knocking out were there to be knocked out and get Anderson's name in front of the people.
In the context of what he is saying I appreciate the honesty. He isn't lying to himself and saying that he will beat Fury or Usyk or Wilder or AJ, etc right now. Sounds to me like he is admitting that he has a lot to work on and that he isn't going to chase belts yet because he is happy making decent money.
The hype train for the kid is Arum and the commentators, not Anderson as far as I can tell. I'd much rather hear fighters say, I am good where I am, I am working my way into a good spot and learning. Rather than a bunch of "I will beat the best, put them in wjth me". A bunch of bs self flagellation.
I'd like to see him in with Ajagba. Sanchez is a pure boxer and would beat Anderson IMO. Anderson Ajagba would be a fun fight and a decent step up.Last edited by Theshotyoudontsee; 08-25-2023, 12:25 PM.Comment

Are you saying you're only concerned about Anderson's safety and well-being? What about his opponents who are usually over matched and get paid peanuts? That's no different from a fight where one guy is on PEDs, which mismatches essentially are all about.
The fans care about one thing and one thing only: seeing someone get knocked out.

Bottom line is fans should always demand best fights best or same level fights, not mismatches.Comment

Could this be the night that Usyk gets caught flush ? Always a possability with these heavies, things could add up against Usyk age distractions not taking a guy serous i do not believe those thing will happen but i hope a fight breaks out and it becomes interesting for four or five rounds .....................things get screwy in the ring sometime......a cut a bad call.Comment

Usyk doesn't get hit like Jared does though so that's not a valid comparison, right?

Without the fans, these "warriors" are not making a living. Anderson may as well have spat on boxing with this statement.
