Pacquiao - Cotto tickets : NOT SELLING WELL

when i bought my ticket at ticketmaster. i couldnt find anything under 750. and that was like 8 hours from the time the ticket went on sales

They have been gaming the system. I spoke w Mark Vester via e-mail to confirm, and he said that they just last week opened another section.

That is done sometimes to prevent all the cheaper seats from being bought while more expensive seats remain unsold.

If you remember the Cotto-Margarito fight, the arena appeared full. But there was a huge black curtain that cordoned off a section. The attendance for that fight was 10,044.

With the Pacquiao-Cotto fight ("Firepower") roughly a month away, tickets are available in nearly all sections.

I spoke with a trusted insider who said that this fight is not doing big business, and there were troubling signs for the gate. I was skeptical because of the Arum pronouncements - even keeping in mind that Arum often inflates his numbers.

Well, it's true. Contrary to earlier pronouncements that the fight was "sold out"....

a) The MGM Grand, the host hotel, has not sold out of rooms. Hotel reservations for that weekend in Vegas, on the whole, has not ****ed.
Avg rates that weekend include $117 at the Hard Rock, and $152 @ MGM.


b) Ticket brokers have seats available in all sections, at all pricing levels:

What are you guys hearing?

1 - Arum is probally the least viable source for ticket sales and PPV numbers. Especially when he's trying to prove a point.

2 - Like others I thought ticket sales were through the roof and almost sold out.

3 - If its not selling well - I would attribute it to the still sagging economy, which doesn't seem to be getting any better for the middle-class.

Glad you put this out Al, I saw a report about this a few days ago but didnt want to post because people would feel I was hating. I wish every boxing event sold out for the good of the sport, but this isnt so with this event for some reason.

I bought my ticket from an online ticket broker and am waiting for it to come in the mail. They said they will be mailing tickets out by October and was told that this would be a hot commodity because tickets will sell fast. This recent update is disturbing because they were selling these tickets at outrageous prices.
