Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez realizes that he's getting closer to the final leg of his pro career. Canelo, 33-years-old, will defend his undisputed super middleweight crown against Jermell Charlo, on September 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

I know people are torn with Canelo but I for one believe he will be appreciated a lot more post-retirement. I wasn't a fan of his but when he defeated Callum Smith and went on that 168 lb tear, my tune changed. I respect Canelo and his skills. He's fought some legitimate fighters and defeated them. He's also taken risks and although he came up short, he aimed for greatness. That Bivol fight was calculated but it was a risk nonetheless. I think Canelo should be enjoyed and he should be given his flowers while he's still active. Whether you love it or hate it, we are witnessing a living legend in action. Sit back and enjoy the show.

Canelo is not a his best anymore. Knee and hand problems. Whoever beats him from now on won't get full credit.

That year when he fought Callum, Billy Joe, and Plant was his best. Unifying the 168 division.

Now is Gervonta's time, who is always fighting the best in his Divison. Champion after Champion. Being sarcastic.

I'll always rag on him for the PEDs, but I can't fully rag on a man who wanted all the smoke against Trout, Mayweather and Lara in the space of about a year, in his prime.

He's got 5 more years. All he needs to do is keep ducking anyone who is remotely considered a threat and he should be fine.

Canelo is one of those fighters whose style doesn't age well like Lomachenko, GGG, Usyk as a main part of his game is defence which he achieves through lateral movement. Once that goes he's gonna definitely get lit up/knocked out numerous times within those 4 years because not only does he have slow feet, he also doesn't have as good a command of distance as the previous mentioned fighters.

Having a good chin/rolling shots can only get you so far if you're insufficient in other areas. You could see how many times John Ryder had success with the inside uppercut, unfortunately for him his shots didn't possess enough snap to effect Canelo but it shows he's there to be hit. Perhaps Charlo is the guy to finally get the dominoes falling.

Canelo is in a very special position to make very big money. Of course he's gonna follow the FMJ business route. Yeah Canelo is already a great fighter but lets be honest and admit that he is very advantaged and coddled by judges and by the boxing industry bc he is the biggest golden goose in boxing atm.

IMO Golovkin was a better fighter than Canelo but G wasn't a mexican or US fighter to have a big popularity/fan base. Lets be honest. People see when a fighter is very advantaged and supported by the boxing cartel. Canelo was 26 when he fought a 35 GGG and he could not defeat him and Canelo got a gift. When Canelo fought Cotto @ 155, Canelo was already a full fledged mw , but he drained to 155, just to avoid going up at 160 and fight a 33 y/o Golovkin. Canelo also vacated his mw belt to not fight a young-ish GGG. Not to mention about the peds using, which media and the boxing cartel forgot it like it didn't happen. lol

When he fought Lara, that was more of a win for Lara bc Lara was keep tagging with jabs and sharp left hands Canelo's face most of the rounds but strangely the judges counted more Canelos body assaults, which it looked like they had double standards in judging.

Canelo/his team probably thought that Bivol is another winnable fight/belt in a bigger weight class with the kindness of the judges but that cherry pick gone wrong. Bivol wasn't a washed up, drunkard Kovalev and neither a weight drained Callum Smith.

Canelo loves boxing but he also loves the money. When you see that you have big chances to make over 1 billion of $, then your motivation and your energy is skyrocketing. Its like when you have a business and it grows, getting bigger and bigger, making you big money, then you have that desire, energy, motivation and the greed to go on. It's all about business and money like FMJ said.

Many people heavily lick Canelo's arse or cawkride him bc he is the golden goose of boxing but they are afraid to tell him what they really think about him bc they'd be labeled "haters" or detractors.
