Everybody keeps saying, "Charlo's the bigger man. Canelo is small. Etc." Yes, Canelo is technically the smaller man in appearance. But he's used to fighting at 168 and Charlo is not. I don't care how big Charlo is, he's never competed professionally at 168 pounds. There's a difference. Canelo is acclimated to the weight but he's also trying to push the narrative that he's the smaller man even going as far as saying he's a smaller 154 pounder. He's fought at 168 consistently. Charlo has not. There's a difference.

We already know it’s true and so does canelo. That’s why he’s fighting jmw Charlo and not Benavidez.

Here is a quiz:
What would be the odds on the books if it was Benavidez/Andrade vs Charlos?
He doesn't want to fight Andrade ever, because of Andrade's part behavior. Andrade is also really over hyped. Do you even know the name of the guy he won his 160 title against? Or any of the guys who he defended against? Then he ran from Janibek. How many of those guys were ranked? He hasn't beaten a single actual world champion. Not one. Most of his fights have been snoozefests against mediocre opposition.
Benavidez has been calling Canelo out, but hasn't done anything to actually secure a title shot. All he's done is drop his title twice, and avoid two fights that might have gotten him a mandatory shot. He could have gone after the WBO to secure the next title shot. Or Morrell, to take the WBA line. Or petitioned the IBF to have his match with Plant a title eliminator. Staying with the WBC means he can't fight Bivol, for instance, and that he'll likely never get his mandatory ordered. WBC can't even order it until after WBA and IBF get their turns. Taking the Morrell fight, that his own manager and father said they had a contract for, would have given him the next mandatory shot at Canelo, and leverage to go for Beterbiev. Taking the Ryder fight before Canelo would have given him the WBO shot. Etc. Instead, he's going after Munguía. Ask yourself why?
If Canelo fights Benavidez before satisfying his WBA and IBF requirements, both those organizations will strip his belts. They want their cut also of the Canelo cash cow.
Both WBA and WBC have a past history of failing to order title consolidations because then they lose another "champion" paying them sanctioning fees. Boxing is a corrupt sport. Follow the money and you'll know why things are and aren't happening.
That being said, his other two fights at PBC had better be Morrell and Benavidez, or I'll be calling him out too. Just not sure how he fights Benavidez without satisfying his IBF obligations.Last edited by crimsonfalcon07; 08-18-2023, 03:08 PM.

It's not a terrible matchup and maybe they'll prove me wrong and put on a great fight that dispels all these concerns, but it's not the best fight that was out there for Canelo.garfios likes this.

Interesting thing about giant slayers, they’re usually taken out by smaller guys. Smaller guys bring the speed, movement and boxing ability that a lot of the bigger guys lack. And that’s why so many trainer’s (like Emanuel Steward) say that at heavyweight, you can pick up boxing late, it’s not as big a deal.
So if Charlo can be faster, make Canelo have to move quicker, work more, and use the usually superior little man skills, maybe, who knows. Sometimes guys, once they move up in weight, forget what it’s like to fight guys with more speed.Last edited by SplitSecond; 08-18-2023, 04:39 PM.JuniorTorres720 likes this.

I have a gut feeling that Canelo's stamina is going to produce scary moments late in the fight of even losing the fight if he don' take Jermell out in the first half of the fight.chief kojo likes this.

It's obvios that Canelo is ducking Benavidez and there is a change that now he loses to a cherry picked Charlo and then it becomes easier to make the Benavidez, only to lose to Benavidez too.
