  • Comments Thread For: Wilder Trainer Malik Scott: Andy Ruiz Out-Priced Himself; It Didn't Work; We're Onto Bigger Things

Malik Scott says Andy Ruiz needs to be reminded of his current place in boxing. The head trainer of former heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder criticized the Mexican-American for failing to be realistic during their negotiations. The bone of contention centered predictably on money, with the Wilder camp contending that Ruiz was inflating his own value. Both Wilder and Ruiz are backed by Al Haymon of Premier Boxing Champions.

Ruiz or not; Deontay needs to get active as soon as possible. He hasn't fought in almost a year. While Anthony Joshua has already fought twice this year. He needs to start shaking off some of that ring rust.

No they didn’t. Wilder puts azzses on seats. Ruiz doesn’t. Wilder generates much more revenue than Ruiz.

Worst thing that ever happened was Ruiz’s camp negotiate a bigger purse than was due for the Joshua rematch. Once they successfully did that, he feels he can do that every fight. It’s not just wilder camp saying he’s overpricing himself, it’s literally everyone.

Wilder against no names doesn't put asses in seats. Ruiz has that name. Wilder knows this.
He'll make less money not giving Ruiz 40. Than fighting a no name...

Cant believe even a second tier fight like this leads to drama and diva BS. It should have been so easy to make.

They should have did a 60/40 split. I have a feeling that Ruiz had people in his ear pumping up his value. Most likely his dad. While Ruiz was a former champion he was only champ for 6 months whereas Wilder was a champion for 5 years. In the end, that justifies Wilder getting a larger percentage. They both need to fight to stay active. Wilder is older so he doesn’t need to fight as much. Too bad they couldn’t agree on terms because I wanted to see this fight.

Full of ____! He is just going for the big Saudi payday and chasing out, no different than Jermell and Jermall (heard he is the 2nd Canelo fight) and Spence. He doesn't want to fight anymore.
