  • Comments Thread For: Crawford Says He Doesn't Expect to Fight Above 154: 'There Are Weight Classes for a Reason'

Terence Crawford has a realistic expectation of what his body will allow him to do. The three-division titlist from Omaha, Nebraska, is coming off a career-best win over Errol Spence Jr. last Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to become the undisputed welterweight champion.

GGG vs Crawford at 160 would be good matchup

Not everyone is a Pacquiao or Canelo, not everyone wants to chase greatness way above your actual weight class, against all odds

Crawford's big and skilled enough to compete at 154 and above though, he just ain't about that life

Not everyone is a-side enough to impose weight clauses on their opponents

Bud should maybe entertain 1 fight at 160. But if not 5 division champ sounds amazing too

he's literally talking about going to 154. He started out as a freaking lightweight. How many former lightweights have fought past the 154 weight division with any success? Duran and Henry Armstrong are the only 2 I can think of. Floyd and Pac stopped at 154. Just admit that you want Crawford to lose.

Last I checked Canelo was a 4 division champion and 154 would be Crawford’s 4th division. I also wouldn’t really consider guys who have implemented more catchweights and rehydration clauses than anyone in boxing history as the true examples of chasing greatness.
