The whole point about this "class" of heavyweights for the last five years, maybe even ten, is that it's a sad lot. Especially today. Fury and Wilder could go toe to toe with the biggest heavyweights of the last twenty years. Outside of that - - that's it. I'm not sorry that I don't have any respect for the other heavyweights because I don't think they have much skill. I do not see, in any way, that these are a "prestigious group of athletes," as you refer to them. Far, far, from it. The Klitscho's could fight. They were entertaining. There is a dearth of talent in the heavyweight division, pure and simple. To pretend otherwise is putting on a pedestal less than mediocre fighters who wouldn't stand a chance against the heavyweights of yesteryear.

Yes indeed. I'm sure that the planet is crawling with millions of big, tough, fast, strong, athletic, fearless natural fighters who have the drive to sacrifice in order to improve their life and make their mark in the world, all of whom know with unwaivering certainty that if they put aside a few years to learn and train; that they would be unstoppable in the ring......who just turn their nose up at $40-100 million. But somehow, they can't find a gym.


...But for those who found a gym, and were not satistfied with being a nobody with a five or low six figure 9 to 5 job, the best Heavyweights (give or take), have been, in my know-nothing opinion (being in the sport only 52 years myself):

I guess you could say that AJ's signature win was against a 41 year old Wladimir Klitschko. The Usyk fights were boring and the Ruiz Jr 2 comeback win (after getting TKO'd in the 7th in Ruiz Jr 1) was against a terribly out of shape and pudgy Ruiz Jr. Not Joshua's fault as you can only fight who they put in front of you. As I've mentioned a ga-zillion times - - no one in boxing in twenty years will be talking about Anthony Joshua at all. Or Usyk for that matter. I'd really like to see Joshua against a real puncher like Fury, Wilder or Anderson. After that, it's just flotsam and jetsam in the heavyweight division.

Anderson, who went life and death with Charles Martin in his last fight ... the same Charles Martin who AJ crushed in 2 rounds to win his first world title back in 2016.
