Yuriorkis Gamboa Eyes Chris John, Juanma, Marquez

TODD duBOEF (President, Top Rank): I think when everybody saw Gamboa the first time, the first time you saw him on television you saw how exciting he was. He has very much a Trinidad-esque charisma. And Solis is in a division searching for “Mr. Heavyweight.” I think that Solis, with his amateur credentials, was something that being in a partnership with Ahmet Öhner and Arena Box-Promotion, his organization, was something that Top Rank wanted to pursue because we believed in the product and build exposure around him. He's got too many flaws though but I have faith on him to get better. Gamboa-Juanma would be an awesome fight.

Juanma vs Gamboa will happend 2011 at 130.

Thet still need to build their reputation and resumes to make that fight appealing to the casual fans, right now Juama is somewhat known and Gamboa is just unknown.

They need to build this fight up first.

I think Juanma after Caballerom should fight Luevano then Vazquez or Marquez and Gamboa should just go for it and fight john and then either Marquez or Vazuez. Then move to 130 and grab a title and Juanma too.

And then the big fight set up for the summer of 2011!!!!!!1

I agree that Gamboa should take a step back, obtain more ring experience and a solid fanbase before getting in over his head.
Hate to see a great talent with a great future get bogged down too early.

I will never understand why they dont put guys like JuanMa and Gamboa on undercards of PPV fights. Imagine one of them two on the undercard of Mayweather v Marquez. More exciting, more well rounded card.

they are both unknown.....the only differ of them is that juanma facing bums and ducking great fighters that he think can do risk him,,,,while gamboa also not been tested yet,but willing to risk his career by calling out those big names to fight him.....
