Its really not Jake. Its all in the numbers. Let me explain: If I drew a graph of average weight and controlled for a range, lets say 20% of a sample where the weight correlates to all the different athletic pursuits (Socer, football, Hockey, etc) The weight would probably start at around the welter weight limits. At this weight guys are strong enough to be bigger, walk around at around 170-200 if not fighting, but even more important, this is the weight of most people. So Welter is a division that converges between the most people, hence more competition, instead of competing with 5% of the population I am competing with like 40% of the population, and it is the weight that most athletes, the most athletic part of the population starts to weigh in at. Keeping in mind that if I am a cornerback for example, in football, I would fight Welter but weigh in a little more because of conditioning.
So, more competition, more competition from the most athletic sample of weights in the population (in the range at least) means that the welter weight division leader should be given some special sauce in the Pound for Pound rankings.

Were older, though she has her figure unlike yours truly!
