Floyd's Too Good For Any WW

43 by itself is not a huge number, but under the circumstances of both fights, it is a pretty significant amount in my opinion. That's what I was trying to say. Another factor that no one seems to mention is that Zab didn't do **** since the Floyd fight, he practically had a one year layoff when he met Cotto. I know that he also was coming of a loss when he fought Floyd, but at least he had been active.
Everyone talks like if Cotto annihilated Judah, and Floyd just barely won a boxing match. I pointed out that Zab landed more against Cotto to show that was not the case.
These fights work as great examples to showcase the differences between Cotto and Floyd. Floyd outboxes and outsmarts you, and you barely land anything on him, whereas Cotto might take more punches, but he gets the KO in the end.
in any case, cotto/floyd would be more like castillo/floyd II. a not so close, but pretty competitive decisionComment

tell him this isn't history class and floyd needs to fight mosley!!!!Comment

exactly. that's why i doubt floyd will dominate cotto like he did with marquez. he'd probably beat him, but marquez looked like a midget in slow motion in that fight. floyd's fast, but marquez didn't do himself any favors by going 18 pounds north of his natural weight. any top WW would've toyed with that 148 pounds marquez, which is why i don't think that cotto vs floyd would be similar at all to that fight

I agree that any top WW would've KO'd Marquez, he's just too small for that weight class. However, what Floyd did against Marquez was vintage Floyd. He did the same thing to Baldomir, to Corrales (plus knockdowns) and to Zab in the final 8 rounds of the fight. Cotto might do slightly better than Marquez, I believe it is impossible to look worse, but he won't bring anything too special to the table either.
The Cotto of today is NOT the Cotto of 3 years ago, and I believe that even then Floyd would've schooled him.Comment

Thats what everyone thinks! But he he does it then so ***in what! I watch Boxing not simulated imaginary bouts. Make them ***ers fight. We all will pay the ppv dollars so get that **** on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment

18 pounds? The fight wasn't at 153!

Cotto Wants Mayweather To “Stop Making Excuses”
By Eric Thomas: In the latest boxing news, undefeated WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (31-0, 25 KOs) has called out WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (39-0, 25 KOs), saying to “stop making excuses” for not fighting him. As of now, Mayweather, 30, has a scheduled rematch with Oscar De La Hoya to take place on September 20th in Las Vegas. Depending on the outcome of the fight, it’s difficult to say when/if Mayweather will be interested in a bout with the unbeaten 27 year-old Cotto.
more on that same interview:
Miguel Cotto doesn't normally call out opponents, but the unbeaten WBA welterweight champion issued a direct challenge to WBC titleholder Floyd Mayweather earlier this week. "I have no problem facing the other champions from the same division," stated Cotto, "but they want to remain as champions. I am open to facing any opponent. When [Mayweather] wants and decides to fight, he knows that Miguel Cotto is here....stop making excuses."Last edited by fdotorres; 10-02-2009, 05:31 PM.Comment

marquez's natural weight is 130. he struggled at 135, and struggled even more at 148 (fight night weigh in vs floyd). after the diaz fight, he decided to move up and chase pac and floyd, but he admitted that one of the options he contemplated was to move back to 130 after fighting diaz
