This is just like when Sergio Martinez won the belts - he wasn't a big financial draw so the organizations wanted those belts off of him IMMEDIATELY - he got stripped of his 154 WBC title the day after the fight, then the WBO stripped him of the 160 a few weeks later. Sergio, like Haney, was waiting to see if a massive fight would be finalized (this was "Mayweather is fighting Martinez in Dubai" era). The WBC eventually wrangled his 160 title off of him too.

If you are not a draw, you don't get to keep the titles.

Yep - look at what happened when Prograis left DiBella - he was basically shut out for three years, it was purely luck that he got that title shot that put him back in the mix.

Haney ****ed up all of Top Rank's plans - I highly doubt they're going to want to let him fight Lopez and potentially beat him then split with his title.

He could have 2 big fights in Tank or Shakur, he's looking for an easier option because he isn't confident that he could win either fight. Prograis, even after giving a sub par performance his last fight, isn't an easier option or Haney would have signed or entered negotiations already. He's trapped.

Did you even READ the article, Haney's side confirmed that Matchroom and Hearn already sent them a preliminary offer, not the other way around. Instead of trying to defend Haney with falsehoods, look at the facts. Haney and his father also said on numerous occasions that he would be willing to stay at 135 until the end of the year to fight Tank or Shakur. But, I guess that was all for show too, until it became too real of a possibility.
