He might have his flaws but he's always willing to improve his craft. Unlike Wilder and Fury he's interested in legacy and has taken steps to achieve his goal. So, show the guy some respect.
Fury has most likely underachieved, even without his lay off 'Right now Fury is underachieving'.
I posted his Championship statistics on another thread 'Fury really should not even be in the debate as a all-time great Heavyweight Champion'.
Fury is a great fighter, but as a Champion he is completely overrated 'Even his brother in a recent interview, has stated he himself does not rate Fury as a great Champion' etc.
Note: Myself personally I have always stated that Fury, does not like being a Champion 'He much prefers being a contender and a underdog, which contrary to popular belief IS easier than being a Champion having the constant pressure and expectation to win'.
Anthony Joshua has been the favorite in 99.9% of the fights he has ever fought, even when really he should not of been favorite I.E Fighting Wladimir Kilstchko in his 19th professional fight 'Joshua for the most part in his career, has compete under a different type of pressure ONE that I am adamant Fury does not like'.
If Fury can avoid his requirements as the WBC World Heavyweight Champion, then he will be content to do so. That is what we are witnessing, never before has a World Heavyweight Champion been allowed to pretty much, just decide that he does not want to fight other top contenders'. That is the agreement Fury has with his hardcore fans, they genuinely belief that only 1-2 fighters are worthy of fighting Fury.
No, hardcore Fury fans don't believe most the things they say 'They betray and lie to themselves, in order to align themselves with Fury'. I think it is a form of protection, they on some level by any means necessary just want Fury to stay as Champion etc.

AJ is talking like a loser. Either he has his fighting spirit or he doesn't. Why does he need to get it back?

This guy is a lost cause. This is just something you do. It should’ve been done vs feather-duster Franklin to get some confidence back, instead he just reinforced his scared behaviour.

IMO, James is doing a good job with Joshua. Joshua vs Franklin was tough because he's shorter, durable, with fast hands and he closes the gap quickly. Everything Franklin did was right out of the Andy Ruiz play book. Joshua's problem is similar to Fury vs Otto Wallin, Fury's reluctance to fighting Usyk and Foreman vs Holyfield, they all struggle against smaller, quick boxers that can close.
Joshua vs White is likely a keep busy fight, the real test will come when he fights another good shorter fighter that can boxer. If James can teach Joshua how to deal with the big mans Achilles heel I believe Joshua's confidence will come back. It still remains to be proven but I believe James is the man to get Joshua back on track.Last edited by factsarenice; 07-17-2023, 02:03 PM.Rebelrbg likes this.

AJ is benefitting from the training of James and being in camp with Spence and Jermell. I believe that we will see a much more technical, defensively responsible, and aggressive fighter than has become his reputation. I just wish that after he destroys The Human Punching Bag Whyte,
then he could fight Fury instead of Wilder.
Deontay has the one punch power that could make Joshua revert back to his cautious style. Fury has no such power, and AJ is too big and strong for Fury to use his mauling tactics.

I see Joshua to have improved the most technically among the current HWs. From a stiff robotic boxer, he is now more flexible, has some upper body movement, better defense, and better timing. Where he does lack, however, is foot movement and that killer instinct to take control of the fight and dominate the action. Unfortunately, no trainer can give you that unless you have it inside you. The best way probably would be to go to war during sparring sessions. Better to be bruised and hardened during training than to lack confidence during a fight. That is a lot easier said than done.
If Joshua can get his confidence and some aggression back, he would be a force to reckon with. I still believe he is the best bet to defeat Fury as Wilder has failed and Usyk would be quite small to do it. A big IF on whether those fights take place though.
