I would imagine figuring out comes through watching tape, though. The goal of Manny sparring with Cotto clones is just to see how he handles the kind of power that Miguel carries, more than anything else.

Obviously, if they can emulate Cotto's style it's a plus, but of course it's not as good as fighting the real thing. I think Roach picked the perfect guys to come in and spar. Porter right now could weigh anything up to 170lbs, so he's gonna feel those blows and try to get used to it.

Sparring a world class fighter gives a huge confidence and skill boost to a rising prospect though. Not only that, but Henry will probably make more for the upcoming sparring seesions that he's made in his entire career.

Whichever decision he makes will be a tough one. He's losing something either way.
True simply because PI before Manny, only has a few fighters in the world class level. IMO, PR has a lot more champion before and Cotto is not exactly charismatic to win the hearts of most PR. Juanma (before the caballero challenge) is probably more loved than Cotto by PR. (PR's just let me know if I'm wrong)

The affection of all Pinoys for Pac is strong enough for them to reject any offer. Idk but it is my opinion being Pinoy.

I do not know if this is really confirmed yet.

TS, Do you have a source? Thanks.

I agree that getting in there with these big guys will definitely help. By the end of sparring, Manny should be getting to these guys pretty good. Roach did make good selections, at least he has few to emulate Cotto. Nobody I can think of can emulate Manny. The first round for Miguel will be a feeling out process.

As far as I know it's not confirmed but Omar has been offered the chance to spar. I think he will take it, too.

It's ok if he doesn't want to take it. He may leak info on strategy which is more important LOL!

                    lol i dont get it....

as far as i know all you cotto stans are so damn sure that pacquiao will get bull-dozered by cotto.

why the hell are you guys so insecure about letting this 5-0 up and comer cotto emulator to spar with pac? does he have cotto's power and movement hands down perfectly? does he have the secret to cotto's success?

its just damn sparring...and you guys are already 100% sure cotto will win anyway. let the kid spar with pac.

at least you dont see pacnuthuggers or any filipinos stop any cotto sparmates because their a small, fast lefty like pac.

lol if this is all bout loyalty to your country...you guys are either overreactin....or just damn childish.

look at cotto stans reactin to this omar henry bein a possible sparrin partner.

they're like scared ****less askin him not to go to the phil.

                      lol one dude said this:

"Ugh dude I'm conflicted. I feel as though you shouldn't puerto rican wise, and it wouldn't help your puerto rican fan base size if they found out. I wouldn't do it if I were you dude, you don't need to spar a featherweight. You're too much like cotto and I'm sure if you go their chances will rise of beating our cotto. Please dude. A filipino wouldn't spar with cotto." - Steven

                      look at this nuthugger:
"Omar, trust me. In the future you will get the same chance for exposure with other big names in the sport, Mayweather, Mosley, Berto, etc..

Miguel Cotto is your hero, trust me from one boricua to another. Your time will come to shine with other big names as you move your way up the sport and the rankings. Us Boricua's have to stick together, especially the boricua's that are worth standing up for. Miguel Cotto is worth it, to you and to all of us he's worth it!" -Boricua Warrior

                      another one:
"I think the boricua nation should stick together. If I had a hero I looked up to, I myself wouldn't work for the enemy who is trying to defeat him." - TheLionFromCaguas
                      LOL wow, that is hilarious.

I think Henry is the best possible sparring to prepare for Pacquiao. I disagree that this would somehow hurt his Puerto Rican fanbase since he essentially has none; not too much of a Puerto Rican presence in his native Houston.
