    His·pan·ic (hĭ-spān'ĭk)
    adj.

    1. Of or relating to Spain or Spanish-speaking Latin America.
    2. Of or relating to a Spanish-speaking people or culture

Where or how does the Philippines fall into that rubric? They have very little Spanish culture other than the religion and the majority speak Tagalog, not Espaņol.

If you're from Mexico and you are full Native American, like a one side of my family is, than you are correct in assuming that they are not Hispanic. However Mexico is considered a Hispanic country because the majority of the country has roots to Spain, not only through the language but also in the bloodline. Just like Puerto Rico. You are considered Taino or of African descent if you have no Spanish blood.
OK define this 'spanish culture' you're speaking of and how would you know how much are embedded into the customs of these hispanic countries as compared to the philippines?

Visayas and Mindanao has bigger percentage of Spanish language compared to Tagalog.. My first language which is Hiligaynon/Ilonggo has 35% Spanish terms, especially common nouns. Tagalog is more on Indonesian and Chinese terms...

You haven't read any of my earlier posts explaining that the Spanish last names come from their religion not the mixing of their ethnicity..

Also Tagalog is the national language of the Philippines, not Espaņol. Hence why it's not considered Hispanic. There are plenty of other dialects that derive more or less from Espaņol. The only dialect I know of, Illocano, has no Spanish derivations in it.

When I say Spanish culture I mean particularly the foods, celebrations, customs and artwork etc.. Can you name any Spanish influenced celebrations, food, customs in the Philippines?

Compared to how many Traditional Filipino foods? What I'm saying is that the Spanish influence on the Philippines as it stands today is not enough to call them Hispanic.
