if u have legit physical talent u can train mma for 5 years in ur late 20’s and become champ. No previous combat experience necessary
ngannou was digging sand mines and driving taxi. Went to Europe started fighting. Became ufc champ within 5 yrs
Jon Jones trained for 5 years and he subbed bjj black belts like vitor and Belfort in title fights lol

Lower level of skill in any given area in MMA because they just don't have the time to really compete in hands, legs, or ground. There's a lot of UFC fighters who have a pretty basic level of competence in at least one aspect of the game, and specialize in something else. But you also have so much more to learn if you're starting from scratch, and since it's a relatively new sport it's going to keep evolving. Look at how Anderson Silva dominated guys just with the Thai clinch, or when BJJ was new, or combat Sambo, or the introduction of the calf kick. Boxing is one of the oldest (combat) sports, so there's not generally a ton of new stuff when it comes to techniques, although there's a lot when it comes to training methods. And you have a lot less to worry about in boxing than in MMA. IMO, If you want to learn how to fight, learn MMA. If you want to learn how to box, learn boxing.Comment

Boxing is a highly specialized sport, therefore by definition it's harder by definition.
MMA while not easy by any stretch of the imagination, due to its less specialized nature is going to be easier to succeed in by exploitations of relative strengths.Comment

Depends how you measure success. Do you measure it by Pay or Career Accomplishments? If you measure it by pay, it seems like high level boxing matches pay much more than high level mma. But mma seems to make many financially stable (upper middle class) fighters that are average athletes for their sport.
Boxing I would say is easier to make career accomplishments. Theres 4 world titles in 17 divisions. Some of those divisions are only seperated by 3lbs. In the UFC I think theres like 7 mens divisions which some are separated by like 15lbs and the monopoly the UFC holds over a MMA World title forces their champs to fight the #1 guy every time. The only argument here for boxing is the preconceived notion that you have to be undefeated to be successful but if promoted right, that can be a much easier hurdle to jump.
Lastly, I dont care what anyone says, boxing is the athletically harder/tougher sport. For 2 reasons, the sparring and 2 the cardio. I have pro MMArtists at the highest level come into our gym to get ready to fight. You cant really spar in MMA like you can in boxing due to risk of injury but with proper protective gear in boxing you can spar at 110%. Also to be a boxer at the highest level, (again someone can argue my opinion) but you should have a marathoners gas tank. In mma weight and strength can minimize that need.Comment
