Its because it isn’t the truth. There is a lot left out.
Bob said he wouldn’t make the ODH fight. He wanted to do an in house Margs fight. Floyd then bought out his contract because his promoter had a clear conflict of interest and wasnt doing what was best for Floyd.
What pro has spent $750k of their own money to chase a fight with the cash cow and top 10 p4p boxer?
Floyd wasn’t responsible for the Fishnets, Shane and Manny fights being delayed. They were. You know this. But you guys go with the “repeat a lie enough it will become the truth” strategy. All you guys got.
The 24/7 concept and beating ODH made Floyd the cash cow. Once that happened, the dudes that wouldn’t fight him like Shane came around to wanting to fight him.
As for opponents- how did Floyd amass a ATG HOF resume if he only fought to protect his 0?
You and others picked him to lose some of these fights prior to them happening. Why was that? How can he be protecting his 0 if you and others think the guys hes fighting have a chance to beat him?
Oscar wasn't obligated to fight Floyd when he was a no name lightweight. When he got his name and weight up Oscar made the fight.
Floyd had a career high 8 million fight with Margarito and turned it down to fight Carlos Baldymir not Oscar for 8 million and a penny. Proving Haney's point of protecting the zero.
Shane and Manny were not the reason Floyd didn't fight those guys earlier. If those guys aren't collectively responsible, then it really depends on who you side with
Floyd beat Oscar and Hatton to grab the top spot, but when it was thought he would fight the Cotto/Shane winner next, instead took a two year vacation, only to come back and cherrypick a lightweight.
Devin Haney is just pointing out the obvious here. Floyd just wanted low to no risk fights to protect the 0Comment

Mayweather piggybacked off of Lewis and Oscar's names on their undercards and eventually found his way. You can't blame the man for making money doing what he likes to do? I honestly don't get the hatred. He's one of the best to ever box, imoComment

Again, all of that has nothing to do with my post. The point is Cotto at 154 was a threat to Pac to the point that he turned down that fight. Mayweather took that fight. There really isn't much else to say. Not sure why that bothers you but that's exactly what happened
Cotto didn't want floyd at 147, so of course floyd had to fight cotto at 154 if he wanted pacs used goods.
So what you really getting at?Last edited by hugh grant; 07-12-2023, 01:23 PM.Comment

At least Floyd rematched his close fights, and won the rematch convincingly, instead of running like you, Haney.Comment

Well, Nelo at 154, let alone 160 was a threat to floyd that's why floyd didn't entertain Nelo at 154, but was ok with DLH.? So floyd was always playing the system!

A lot of this is skewed.

Not fighting Margs had nothing to do with protecting his 0. Floyd paid $750k to get out of his contract because Bob told the media he wouldnt make the ODH fight. He fought Baldomir for the title because GBP wanted to get him a win to build the ODH fight.
Youre lying. Shane told Larry Merchant he had tooth issue on TV when Merchant asked him to fight Floyd. Shane didnt fight Floyd at the time because he was very high risk, low reward. Soon as Floyd showed he could generate massive ppv sales with ODH and Hatton, Shane came forward.
Manny turned down the fight over ped testing. Got stitches from Arum’s son in-law only after Nevada delayed Floyds jail start date. He then turned down a career high $40 mil to instead fight JMM for $28 mil because his feelings were hurt when Floyd gave a flat fee offer with no ppv.
Manny got to be the a side with the bulk of the ppv like he wanted. He just got ktfo.
Youre lying again. Bob stated to the media Cotto wasnt ready for that fight. Shane we discussed.
When he came back from injury, he fought JMM because people were talking about him fighting Manny. They had close fights so Floyd decided to dominate a guy Manny could barely beat.
Yeah, he used his A side ability to get Marquez to agree to 146. You can criticize that.
Haney is regurgitating something he was told to say. Floyds name still carries media attention. But the facts show otherwise.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 07-12-2023, 01:49 PM.Comment
