  • Comments Thread For: Team Bivol: Canelo Talking About Rematch Was Always Just a Front For the Fans

A representative for Dmitry Bivol always felt Canelo Alvarez was simply using his charge's name for clout. The WBA light heavyweight titlist from Russia was expected to fight Alvarez in a rematch this fall, but the two sides were unable to come to an agreement on a deal.

If Canelo wanted a rematch, he would get it, even at 175. Just he didn`t want it.

Bivol should just go to 168 and request a title shot based on his current status as champion he would become the mandatory and force bumnelo

So true! I've never known Alvarez to not be able to make a fight that he really wanted to make.

Can’t blame him, unless the scorecards are wildly crooked, Canelo flat out can’t beat Bivol. 168/175, doesn’t matter.

Bivol’s chief handler, veteran manager Vadim Kornilov, denounced Alvarez last month, for trying to offer his client the “same terms” as the first fight, even though Bivol was the victor. Bivol defeated Alvarez by unanimous decision last year in a 175-pound contest for Bivol's WBA belt.
Seems they could have called Canelo's bluff if they wanted the fight. I don't see the problem with offering the same terms. He was the champion when he accepted the terms the first time and he's champion now. Probably the biggest payday he has had or can get and Bivol says he isn't about money anyway. I'm not sure of the logic of Bivols management, is he gonna get a better offer somewhere else?
