It has been scientifically proven that East Slavs have the strongest upper bodies in the world. Don't discard this as racist/nationalistic rumble, it IS true. Lemme give you a few examples: Samuel Peter, one of the biggest punchers of the recent years, a very strong Nigerian dude; he gets beaten up easily by Vitali and also his brother, even after suffering three knockdowns which would most certainly finish off any other non-Ukrainian/Russian opponent and goes on to outbox him.
Maskaev was already shot when he fought Peter and the fight was stopped somewhat prematurely. I believe Povetkin would destroy Peter and he will if they ever meet. A prime Maskaev could also ko him like he ko'd Derrick Jefferson, Hasim Rahman or Alex Stewart, all big punchers. Wladimir also was the first to ko Monte Barrett, who had previously only lost a split decision to Lance Whitaker. Wladimir also stopped Jefferson and Austin in 2 rounds, something nobody else has done to the latter.
