Wins against future HOFs like Barrera, Morales, DLH all came while their career was on a down slide and they were clearly past prime. His first 30 or so fights were all in the philippines, and his first 2-3 titles were won there. Some of the guys he defeated had double digit loss records, hell he even beat a guy who was 31-30. But so many people bring up the fact that he has "risen 6 weight classes" as a claim to his greatness but if you look at the numbers and opponents he does nothing worth noting until Barerra. Theres nothing overrated about his heart, skills and competetive spirit, its just that his accomplishments are taking for more than what they should be.
You can level exactly the same kind of accusations at almost any fighter.

Hopkins: Did nothing until defeating Tito

Calzaghe: Did nothing until fighting Lacy.

Hagler: WTF was he doing fighting a guy with 37 losses in his 45th pro fight? Now imagine the kind of **** Calzaghe would have gotten for that!

    ... And so on.

The guy with 30 losses who Pacquiao fought, John Medina? Yeah, sure, but Manny had only been pro for a year at the time! Every fighter fights journeymen on the way up. Compare that with Hagler fighting a guy with more losses in his 45th fight and it doesn't look that bad.

But im pretty sure youre willing to argue those were all great fighters even though only one has fought in america and the other two hardly ever fought outside of thier respective country and never left the pacific.

Over his first 35 fights PAC faced oppisition with a record of:

      446-185-44

None of these fights except 1 were outside the philipines btw.

This is his career before Barrera.

I think he gets to much credit for anything he has done before Barerra, please explain how im wrong.

I can agree with you about Calazaghe but not about Hopkins and Marvin.

Hopkins before Tito was the king of his the weight class for almost 10 years at that point with 20+ title defenses and Hagler is from a different era.

Cant compare that to PACs or Calslappys career.

only Sasakul has the legit belt which is Lineal Flyweight & WBC Flyweight

no one says their great fighters

so what? is it his fault he's not American? did Floyd fought outside US on his 1st 20 fights? dumb question right?

before he fought Barrera he's been WBC Flyweight/Lineal champ & IBF
Super bantam champ, saying he's done nothin before MAB is plain ignorance

Who is comparing careers? No one. What I said was you can level accusations at every fighter. Any resume can be criticized.

Joe was also a champion for almost 10 years before fighting Lacy. He defeated Eubank in 1997 and fought Lacy in 2006.

Ans please, let's have an adult conversation instead of referring to Calzaghe as 'Calslappy'. That's just childish, whether you like Joe Calzaghe or not and I feel like I'm wasting my time talking to a ****ing idiot. No offense.

Hell no. And Roy Jones --to this day-- has still never fought outside America.

It works both ways (unless of course you're so brainwashed you think boxing doesn't exist outside of America). Newsflash: We're fighting by the Queensberry rules! Boxing is more English than American!
