The Saudis are not buying a Whyte vs Wilder fight. They are buying a Joshua vs Wilder fight. If Eddie Hearn doesn't deliver on that promise then it won't be a fight at all in December.

Eddie and Josh don't seem too confident. Why do they need a rematch clause to fight Whyte? If they lose there's no wilder fight snyway. If they're just looking for a "gimme" though, well that's different!

He agreed to the money. He doesn’t want an immediate rematch clause which apparently is in the contract. Joshua doesn’t even have a belt. Whyte wants it so the winner gets the Wilder fight in Saudi Arabia in December. There is no need for a rematch. If Joshua wins he goes to SA but if he loses he wants to prevent Whyte from getting that opportunity. It is a pretty bad look on Hearn & Joshua. They lack confidence & if that is the case why not take a weaker opponent than Whyte? The problem here is Hearn & AJ not Whyte…

I agree but Eddie Hearn has to get the go ahead from the Saudis for a potential Wilder/Whyte matchup. i am pretty sure they are not into the business of throwing good money after bad.
